|---|
|
Available for grants with 1 year of funding remaining. All appropriate faculty should contact their
program officer for further information and should apply.
a. Administrative supplements (no external review, the review will be conducted by NIH administrators, likely your Program Officer) for support of existing research. Amounts are projected to be ~$100,000 per year or more (depending on the project scope) for up to 18-24 months. Anticipated will require 1 page justification and matched budget. b. Competitive Supplements to extend existing research projects for support of extensions of existing aims. Amounts have yet to be determined, but duration for 18-24 months. Generally 2-3 page requests with matched budget will be required. An RFA will be forthcoming. |
| 2. Pay-line increases |
|
Targeted to grants that have already been reviewed but that have missed previous allocation. Not clear how
far dating back, but likely for grants reviewed October 2008 and after. Will also apply to grants currently
in review. Note that each institute will develop its own set of guidelines. The duration of the grants will
be for 18-24 months and may require a modified proposal of 2-3 pages and matched budget. Faculty whose grants
fall into this category should request consideration.
|
| 3. Challenge Grants |
|
These will be 2-year grants for high impact, high-risk projects, providing up to $500,000 a year. The topic
areas will be decided by each Institute and consistent with that Institutes specific priorities. The RFAs
should be issued within the next 2-3 weeks.

Shared Instrumentation: These are multiple investigator awards for major pieces of equipment that cost from $100,000-500,000. There has been no RFA announcement to date. |
| 5. Construction Grants | These will be released by NCRR for new or extensions of ongoing projects. Currently it is not known whether matching funds will be required. The spending time line should be up to 4 years. |
