The Students of Fox

Fox Student Fall Retreat, September 2003
Fox Student Retreat.
At the Robert A. Fox Leadership Program, students get actively involved by serving on the Fox Student Steering Committee, becoming a member of the Fox Student Delegation or joining the Fox Student Association.

Fox Student Steering Committee

The Fox Student Steering Committee (FSSC) is comprised of College undergraduates who each possess a unique and personal leadership style, testifying to the potential for leadership inherent in everyone. The FSSC is led by student directors who work closely with the other committee members and Fox staff to manage, facilitate and coordinate the committee's involvement and participation in the Fox Leadership Program. Individual members of the FSSC are currently engaged in such initiatives as Penn Leads the Vote, Big Brothers Big Sisters mentoring program, planning many Leadership Events and Leadership Experiences, and coordinating the Powerspeak workshops and practicums.

Fox Student Association

Members of the Association are placed on a mailing list where they receive up-to-date invitations to events, and information on guests and other Fox initiatives. Members receive invitations to events before the general student body. Association members also receive invitations to special events and dinners. There are no student obligations as an Association member. Click here to join the Association.

A Message to Freshmen

Every student at Penn, whether a freshman or second-semester senior, is involved in activities outside of the classroom. While attending to their academic responsibilities, Penn students also engage in every genre of activity ranging from sports to the performing arts. Each student is different and their involvement outside of the classroom varies with each individual person. But regardless of your interests, your ambition, or the flexibility of your schedule, Penn will offer an extracurricular activity that suits you to a "T." You just have to find it.

The Fox Leadership Program is unique. In this, the land of the student organization and the extracurricular activity, the Fox Leadership Program rises above typical extracurricular categories to offer you something new and exciting. Through a series of interactive and exciting Leadership Events, Leadership Experiences and Leadership Courses, Fox will give you the opportunity to develop your own unique leadership potential. Not only will you leave Fox feeling self-improved, but you will also carry with you skills, experiences and knowledge that will last a lifetime.

The Fox Leadership Program is special because of its diverse composition. Where else can you find such a mix of Penn faculty, staff, students, alumni and distinguished national and international leaders? The Fox Program provides this in an intimate and interactive organization where every person has a stake in its success. The Fox Leadership Program embodies everyone from the Freshman Political Science Major and the Senior Summa Cum Laude Graduate to President Amy Gutmann and U.S. Congressman Harold Ford, Jr. This wide scope of participation enables the Fox Program to pursue the concept of leadership from many different perspectives.

Hopefully, during your four years at this university, you will let a Fox activity enrich your undergraduate experience and, more generally, your life. On behalf of the Fox students, we invite you to attend one of our events. We'd also like to invite you to become a formal member of our Program by joining the Fox Student Association.

All the Best,

The Fox Student Steering Committee
