Annie LeeAnnie Lee

San Francisco , CA

Annie attended Saint Ignatius College Preparatory in San Francisco , California .  She enjoys eclectic Penn courses including astronomy, introduction to international relations, and her current BFS seminar on American literature in the 1930s.  Annie is often seen at the front desk of Leadership Hall as a Program Assistant at Fox.  She enjoys organizing Fox events and interacting with Penn students.  Aside from working at Fox, Annie also volunteers at the Ronald McDonald House.  In her free time, Annie prefers to run along the Schuylkill, bake chocolate chip cookies, and view preferably romantic foreign films.

Miguel attended New Egypt High School in New Jersey, and is now planning to pursue a Poltical Science major and History minor at Penn.  When he's not in class, you might find Miguel working with his fraternity (Delta Tau Delta), developing the Penn chapter of Democracy Matters, or helping someone with a troublesome computer as an ITA.  He also enjoys biking, trying new food, and walking around Philly.

A recent graduate of Agoura High School in Agoura Hills, CA, Zac plans to explore a double major in Communication and Public Service & Diplomatic History. Ultimately, Zac would like to pursue a career in politics, eventually culminating in a stint as President of the United States. Zac enjoys playing and watching golf and baseball, traveling, and spending time with his friends and family.

Colby attended Byram Hills High School in Armonk, New York. She is a History major and an Economics minor. Aside from academics, Colby is student director of Fox's Red and Blue, and is actively involved in Kite and Key as a tour guide. Colby loves golf, tennis, and chocolate milk

Kristen attended Weston High School in Weston, Massachusetts. As a Philosophy and Religious Studies major, she intends to pursue a career in law. Her favorite classes at Penn have been Medieval Philosophy and Islamic Civilization. Kristen is currently spearheading a Fox program called Girl Scouts at Penn. It is an organization that volunteers at two Girl Scout troops in West Philadelphia and organizes a council-wide event each semester focusing on leadership and self-esteem. On the Steering Committee, Kristen is the chair of the Newsletter Committee. In addition to her efforts at Fox, Kristen is a member of the Varsity Women’s Fencing Team.

Christine Hurtubise attended Germantown Friends School in Philadelphia. Her favorite classes are whichever math or psychology courses in which she is enrolled. When she's not in class, she spends her time exploring new aspects of the city through photography, running, and teaching. Christine admires the leadership and integrity of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Jennifer Shaio

 

Jennifer attended Cherry Creek High School in Greenwood Village, Colorado .  She is an economics major with a minor in biology and plans to pursue a career in corporate law.  In addition to her participation in Fox, Jennifer is a research assistant for the RHORS study and is involved with Penntoring and Big Brothers Big Sisters.  She loves to watch and play tennis, read, discover random areas of Philadelphia , and travel.  Her favorite quote is: "The most wasted of all days is one without laughter (E.E. Cummings)".

Stephanie attended University School in Davie , FL. She plans to pursue a liberal arts degree in political science and an undergraduate business degree, concentrating on public policy and international studies, and ultimately hopes to attend law school. Her favorite classes at Penn have included International Relations, Social Contract Theory, Corporate Responsibility and Business Ethics, and Dr. DiIulio's Introduction to American Politics. Stephanie spent the better part of the Fall 2006 semester camped on Locust Walk in the name of democracy (and Penn Leads the Vote). She enjoys political participation and chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream.


David HelfenbeinDavid Helfenbein

David had some early political experiences while attending Horace Greeley High School in Chappaqua, New York. At the age of thirteen, after meeting then-First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton, he founded "Kids 4 Hillary" in support of her 2000 Senatorial bid. Since then, David served as Senator Clinton's first U.S. Senate Page, and has also worked as an intern in her office. He has additionally assisted at former President Bill Clinton's events in both New York and Philadelphia. In 2004, David worked at the Democratic National Convention in Boston. He recently spent a semester interning with Thomas Mann, a Senior Fellow at the Brookings Institution's Governance Studies Program, in Washington, DC.


Jessica Rosenbaum

Jessica attended Half Hollow Hills High School East in Dix Hills, New York. She is thinking of majoring in Political Science, so inspired by Professor DiIulio's Political Science 130 class. Jessica is hopeful to eventually pursue a career in law, but is taking advantage of the limitless possibilities at Penn to explore all of the options. Jessica is an active member of the Red and the Blue, and looks forward to taking on a leadership role on the committee next semester. In her free time, Jessica enjoys spending time with family and close friends, playing tennis, and traveling.


Sam Adelsberg

Sam is pursuing a degree in Politics, Philosophy and Economics with a focus in Middle East Finance and a minor in Modern Middle Eastern Studies at Penn. As indicated by the focus of his studies, he is quite passionate about the Middle East and is committed to using innovative and economics based tools help bring stability to the troubled region. In this capacity, he is launching LendforPeace.org in 2008 as a platform for individuals abroad to lend directly to Palestinian micro-entrepreneurs and contribute to the formation of a stable Palestinian private sector within the context of peace. Additionally, Sam has been very active on Penn's campus in Hillel as well as within interfaith activities as he sits on the board of PRISM, the interfaith organization at Penn. He has also spearheaded an effort to bridge the gap between the Jewish and Muslim/Arab communities at Penn through a joint initiative that involves dialogue and co-existence programming that stress the commonalities in the cultures. The proximity of Penn to West Philadelphia has allowed Sam to be a Big Brother to a 5th grader named Curtis and work on college access programs at local high schools. In his spare time, Sam enjoys playing basketball, reading, studying Jewish law, teaching about the Holocaust at local high schools and spending time with his nephew Izzy.  He hopes to one day enter a career in public service and have a significant impact on American policy toward the Middle East.

Jessica attended The H-B Woodlawn Program in Arlington, VA.  She is pursuing a major in History, with a concentration in European History and a minor in French.  Jessica studied at the Université François-Rebalais in Tours, France in summer 2006.  Ultimately, she would like to work in Europe.  In addition to her responsibilities with Fox, Jessica is a member of the Kite and Key Society, where she volunteers as a campus tour guide. In her spare time, Jessica enjoys running, photography and dining with friends at Philadelphia restaurants.


Ben Scholom

Ben Scholom attended Walter Payton High School in Chicago, Illinois. He is currently is a student in the College and Wharton studying Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations and Finance. Currently, he is head of the Humanities Committee and is brainstorming possible intitiatives for it. In addition to Fox, Ben is part of the Penn Men's Fencing team and Democracy Matters. In his free time, he likes to read the news and watch Lost, Family Guy, and other extremely awesome TV shows.


Adam Hanover

Diplomatic History

Founder of Vote Now and appointed the Youth and Voter Registration Chairman for the City of Memphis Bush/Cheney 2004 Presidential Campaign, Adam jumped at every political opportunity in his home town. Today, Adam attempts to connect his passion for politics with his interests in emerging markets investments, private equity, and venture capital. A Diplomatic History major, work experience with hedge funds and his involvement with St. Albans School of Public Service have allowed him to walk a fine line between both the public and private sectors. At the University of Pennsylvania, Adam serves as a member of the Board of Overseers at Penn Hillel and is the founder and co-chair of the Wharton Hedge Fund Conference.

Andrew attended Hamden Hall Country Day School in Hamden, CT. His favorite classes have been Race, Poverty and Class (AFRC 518) and International Security (PSCI 151). In addition to Fox, Andrew is involved on campus with NO REST, a New Orleans advocacy group, and is a Big Brother at St. Francis de Sales. He is an avid sports fan, especially though of college football, and he can be found at every Penn Basketball game. Andrew is excited to be involved with the Community Service Committee and proud of Fox and FLINOLA's efforts in New Orleans.


Angela Ddamba

Angela attended to Brookhouse Secondary School in Nairobi, Kenya. She aspires to be a pediatrician someday. She loves children, laughing, being silly and music of all kinds. She watches a maximum of five movies a year at the cinema. She prefers the Queen’s English. She is also a member of the Residential Advisory Board. Her weekends are either spent at Van Pelt or HUP or CHOP. She stands by her view that the fiercest machine to drive is a BMW. Hands down.

Elad Golan was born and raised in the suburbs of Philadelphia, in the small township of Lower Merion. With two loving parents, two older brothers, and a younger sister, Elad has always cherished his family. For high school, Elad attended Akiba Hebrew Academy where he learned the values of pluralism, hard-work, and tolerance. Elad came to the University of Pennsylvania to pursue a dual concentration Finance & Marketing BS degree in the Wharton School. With a deep passion for the entertainment industry, namely movies, Elad hopes to one day work on the business side of movies.

Keri was born in New Zealand and attended South Island School in Hong Kong. Her favorite classes are psychology, art history, and pottery. You will often find Keri flyering on Locust Walk for the many clubs that she's a part of or possibly at tennis practice with the Women's Club Tennis team. She enjoys dancing and listening to hip-hop/RnB/Jazz, and baking cupcakes.


Lauren WeissbrodLauren Weissbrod

Lauren attended Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School, where her interest in soccer, Relay for Life, and art history developed. Now, as a freshman at Penn, Lauren plays club soccer, serves as co-chair on one of the College Against Cancer's subcommittees, and loves to discuss art history. Lauren has no idea what she wants to study, and probably will not know for another year or so. She loves ice cream, the color"green," and singing, though she has been told she is tone-deaf. Lauren is excited to be a part of the Fox Family, and anticipates great things for this semester from the Fox Steering Committee.

Peter attended Saint John's School in Houston, Texas. He is currently planning on majoring in mathematics or economics at Penn. When he is not in class, you may find him working on the credit committee for Penn's Student Federal Credit Union or training to become a speech/presentations advisor through Penn's Communication Within the Curriculum program. In his free time, Peter enjoys playing his guitar and doing anything related to sports
