Many women throughout premodern Europe engaged actively in book culture as owners, commissioners, readers, copyists, illuminators, translators, compilers, and composers of both vernacular and Latin texts. In this interdisciplinary colloquium, hosted by the Department of German Literatures and Languages of the University of Pennsylvania, we will explore several ways in which women from the regions that cover present day Germany, England, and the Low Countries participated in the lively intellectual and literary culture of the Middle Ages. Please register for this event here: https://goo.gl/forms/ObSLwbGysEbOXQxp2 The event program can be found here:Women and the Book in the Germanic World Program.pdf
