Randall Collins Wins Ludwik Fleck Prize
Sociology professor Randall Collins has been awarded the Ludwik Fleck Prize for his book The Sociology of Philosophies: A Global Theory of Intellectual Change. Awarded annually by the Society for Social Studies of Science, the Fleck Prize was created in 1992 to honor the best book in the area of science and technology studies. The book also won the Distinguished Scholarly Publication Award of the American Sociological Association in 1999. Professor Collins came to Penn in 1997 from the University of California, Riverside, where he was chair of the Department of Sociology. He is the author of 13 books and 100 articles.
