Garry Wills is the former Henry R. Luce Professor of American Culture at Northwestern University. His Pulitzer Prize-winning book Lincoln at Gettysburg has been widely acclaimed for its examination of the Gettysburg Address and how these mere 272 words gave America "a new birth of freedom." As Wills explains, "By accepting the Gettysburg Address, its concept of a single people dedicated to a proposition, we have changed. Because of it, we live in a different America."
