Diebold Named Guggenheim Fellow
Francis X. Diebold, the W.P. Carey Term Professor in Economics
in the School of Arts and Sciences and a professor of finance
and statistics in the Wharton School, has received a fellowship
from the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation for a
study of financial asset returns and underlying economic
fundamentals.
Professor Diebolds scholarly interests include econometrics,
forecasting, finance and macroeconomics. He has published
extensively and has served on the editorial boards of numerous
journals, including Econometrica and Review of Economics
and Statistics. He is a Fellow of the Econometric Society
and has received several prizes for outstanding teaching.
From 1986 to 1989, he served as an economist under Paul Volcker
and Alan Greenspan at the Board of Governors of the Federal
Reserve System in Washington, D.C. Professor Diebold received
his B.S. and Ph.D. in 1981 and 1986, respectively, from the
University of Pennsylvania. In addition to his appointment
at Penn, he is a research associate at the National Bureau
of Economic Research in Cambridge, Mass.
Guggenheim Fellowships, which include a substantial stipend for research, are awarded annually for distinguished scholarly achievement and exceptional promise for future accomplishment in the natural sciences, social sciences, humanities, and creative arts.
