Fels Institute Hosts Inaugural Eastern Leadership Academy
September 12, 2005
From now until Thursday, Sept. 15, state officials from across the northeast are enhancing their leadership skills at a five-day conference sponsored by the Fels Institute of Government. The inaugural Eastern Leadership Academy is the only forum designed for officials from all three branches of government.
The ELA was created to address the most significant policy issues facing legislators and their staff as well as executive and judicial branch officials. This week, they are learning how to effectively analyze policies and programs, evaluate the information they receive and communicate successfully with constituients and colleagues. Guest speakers include Mark Morial, president of the Urban League and former mayor of New Orleans, Sen. Robert Martin of New Jersey and William A. Bablitch, justice of the Wisconsin Supreme Court.
The Eastern Leadership Academy is co-sponsored by the Counsel of State Governments' Eastern Regional Conference.
