Two students in the College of Arts and Sciences have been chosen as 2005 Marshall Scholars. Harveen Bal and Gabriel Mandujano were among 43 students nationwide to receive the award.
The prize is given annually to top United States students who seek to obtain graduate degrees in the United Kingdom. The winners are funded for two years and may pursue any field of study. Bal, a senior health and societies major, will focus on development studies at the University of Oxford. Mandujano is a triple major in urban studies, international studies and business. She will study Latin American government at politics at the University of Essex.
The scholarship program was founded in 1953 in honor of the Marshall Plan, the strategy that encouraged European reconstruction after World War II. The awards are presented by the Marshall Aid Commemoration Commission.
