School of Arts and Sciences Recognizes President Rodin with Distinguished Alumni Award

President Judith Rodin, CW’66, has been named the recipient of the 2004 Distinguished Alumni Award of the School of Arts and Sciences. The award recognizes alumni who have used their strong foundation in the liberal arts to achieve professional distinction. Dr. Rodin was selected in recognition of her many accomplishments as an eminent scholar, a visionary leader, and an inspiring role model. During Dr. Rodin’s presidency, the University has enjoyed a period of unprecedented growth that has transformed Penn’s academic core, enhanced the quality of life on campus, and revitalized the surrounding community.
The School of Arts and Sciences Distinguished Alumni Awards are presented annually to alumni of the College, Graduate Division or College of General Studies. Included among past recipients of the award are Nobel Prize-winners Michael S. Brown, C’62, M’66, Hon’86, Stanley Prusiner, C’64, M’68, Hon’98, and Ahmed Zewail, Gr’74, Hon’00; Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Melinda Wagner, Gr’86; and Pennsylvania Governor Edward G. Rendell, C’65, Hon’00.
