Soldo Named AAAS Fellow

Sociology professor Beth Soldo, a renowned expert in social gerontology, has been elected a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
Professor Soldo, a distinguished senior scholar in the sociology department, is also a professor in the School of Social Work, where she served as director of the Boettner Center of Financial Gerontology. She also directed the Population Aging Research Center of the Population Studies Center. Before coming to Penn, she was the chair of the demography department at Georgetown University. Professor Soldo has written over 30 papers on the demography of aging, focusing on issues of health dynamics, intergenerational transfer system, and long-term care. In addition, she has received more than 30 grants from federal agencies and private foundations for her research. She holds a B.A. from Fordham University and an M.A. and Ph.D. from Duke University.
