![]() |
The world-class intellectual environment of Penns life sciences enterprise requires a state-of-the-art physical environment one that promotes the interdisciplinary scholarship characterizing life sciences in the 21st century. This facility must support the sophisticated technology that collects and analyzes huge volumes of information. It must be versatile enough to accommodate the rapid changes in research techniques, to adapt to shifts of focus, and to support new interactions as they emerge. And finally, it must support the students who come to Penn to learn.
The School plans to build a $100 million complex behind the biology departments Leidy Laboratories and near the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, creating a hub for research and teaching in the life sciences. The project will consist of two phases to provide continuity for teaching and research.
