Scholarship Donors
Osama S. Abbasi Endowed Scholarship: Established in 2003 by Osama S. Abbasi, W’90, to provide financial support to an undergraduate who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of an education at Penn, with a preference for a student of Palestinian or Jordanian heritage in the College, Wharton, or School of Engineering and Applied Science.
Sami S. Abbasi Endowed Scholarship: Established in 2005 by Sami S. Abbasi, C’86, to provide financial support to an undergraduate who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of an education at Penn, with a preference for a student of Palestinian or Jordanian heritage in the College, Wharton, or School of Engineering and Applied Science.
Sondra Stone Abramson Scholarship: Established in 1998 by Jay B. Abramson, W’83, L’86, in honor of his mother, Sondra, DH’55, to provide scholarship support to an undergraduate in the College, with a preference for an incoming freshman who has graduated in the top five percent of his/her high school class and has demonstrated leadership skills. The award will be renewed in subsequent years if the student continues to demonstrate financial need and maintains a minimum GPA of 3.0.
Ahuja Family Endowed Scholarship: Established in 2004 by At Last Sportswear, Inc., Sunil Ahuja, and Harish Ahuja, Par’07, to provide financial support to an undergraduate in the College who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of an education at Penn, with a preference for a student from India.
Visalakshi Alagappan Endowed Scholarship: Established in 2004 by Vairam Alagappan, C’84, in honor of his twentieth reunion and named for his mother to provide financial support to a female undergraduate in the College who is of Asian Indian descent and who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education.
Ettore and Carolyn Alosio Endowed Scholarship: Established in 1998 by Mr. Alosio, C’53, and added to in 2003 to celebrate his fiftieth reunion, to provide a renewable scholarship to an undergraduate in the College with a preference for a junior majoring in biology.
Ametek Scholarship: A term scholarship established in 1998 and renewed in 2003 by the Ametek Foundation to provide financial support to undergraduate women in the College of General Studies who qualify for financial aid through the Bread Upon the Waters Scholarship Fund.
Edward and Lois Anderson Endowed Scholarship: Established in 1993, and increased in 1998 by University Trustee Edward T. Anderson, C’65, M’69, and Lois Gelston Anderson, PT’65, to provide financial aid for students in the College.
Fanchon Apfel Scholarship: A term scholarship established in 2001 by Fanchon Marks Apfel, OT’54, and Jerome B. Apfel, L’54, to provide financial support to undergraduate women in the College of General Studies who qualify for financial aid through the Bread Upon the Waters Scholarship Fund.
Nathan Appleman Scholarship: Established in 1993 through the Appleman Foundation, which is named for Nathan Appleman, W’25, to provide scholarships for undergraduates in the College and the Wharton School.
Arrouet Family Endowed Scholarship: Established in 2002 by Paul M. Arrouet, C’93, to provide financial support to an undergraduate in the College who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of an education at Penn.
Axelrod Family Scholarship Fund: Established in 1997 by Bernard Axelrod, C’41, WG’43, and Jay Axelrod, Esq., C’74, and increased in 2004 in honor of Bernard’s sixty-fifth reunion and Jay’s thirtieth reunion, to provide financial support to undergraduates in the College who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education, with preference given to athletes.
Courtland H. and Edna Hurlock Barr Endowed Scholarship: Established in 1998 by C. Hilyard Barr, C’48, in memory of his parents, to provide financial support to undergraduates in the College pursuing activities outside the classroom who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education.
Reina and Emilio Bassini Endowed Scholarship: Established in 2000 by Emilio Bassini, W’71, C’71, WG’73, and his wife Reina Marin Bassini, CW’72, GEd’72, to provide financial support to international undergraduates in the Huntsman Program in International Studies & Business, with a preference for students from Latin America.
Muriel Beck Scholarship: A term scholarship established in 2001 by Ellen Beck Solms to provide financial support to undergraduate women in the College of General Studies who qualify for financial aid through the Bread Upon the Waters Scholarship Fund.
Berger-Beeman Endowed Scholarship: Established in 2001 by Mitchell R. Berger, C’76, G’76, in gratitude for the inspiration and peerless instruction received from Professor Richard R. Beeman, to provide financial support for a student in the College with a demonstrated interest in history and politics.
Errol A. G. Behrman Scholarship: Established in 2005 by Grant G. Behrman, WG’77, to provide financial support to undergraduates in the College and Wharton who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education.
David and Francis Beizer Memorial Endowed Scholarship: Established in 2004 by Matthew R. Beizer, C’79, GEd’79, L’84, WG’84, in memory of his parents, David and Francis Beizer, to provide scholarship support to an undergraduate in the College who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education.
Howard M. Berger Memorial Fund: Established in 1975 by the family and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Berger to provide a scholarship to a student majoring in English “and having an expressed interest in becoming a creative writer such as novelist, poet, or playwright.”
Lila Berger Endowed Scholarship Fund for Public Service: Established in 2003 by Mitchell R. Berger, C’76, G’76, in honor of his mother to provide financial support to an undergraduate in the College who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education, with a preference for a student serving as an intern with Penn’s Center for Community Partnerships (CCP). Specific preference is for a student serving in a CCP internship focused on public schools.
Rabbi Samuel and Evelyn Berkowitz Endowed Scholarship: Established in 1998 by Judy Berkowitz Sokal, CW’68, and Allen M. Sokal, ChE’68, in honor of Mrs. Sokal’s parents, to provide financial support to an undergraduate who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education, with a preference for a student interested in music or Jewish studies.
Dennis and Marcia Berman Endowed Scholarship I: Established in 2005 by Dennis N. Berman, C’73, W’73, and Marcia Wishinsky Berman, SW’78, to provide financial support to an undergraduate who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education, with a preference for a student from Southern California. The award shall be made to an upperclassman who maintains a G.P.A. of at least 3.3. The scholarship will alternate each year between the Wharton School and the College.
Dennis and Marcia Berman Endowed Scholarship II: Established in 2005 by Dennis N. Berman, C’73, W’73, and Marcia Wishinsky Berman, SW’78, to provide financial support to an undergraduate in the College who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education. The award shall be made to an upperclassman and will be renewed in subsequent years if the recipient maintains a G.P.A. of at least 3.3.
James Berman Endowed Scholarship: Established in 2005 by James R. Berman, C’88, to provide financial support to an undergraduate in the College who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education.
Tracy and Adam Bernstein Endowed Scholarship: Established in 2004 by Tracy Margel Bernstein, C’88, and Adam Bernstein, W’85, in honor of his twentieth reunion, to provide financial support to an undergraduate who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education, with a preference for a student in the College from the Washington, D.C., area.
Bing Family Endowed Scholarship: Established in 2000 by Richard N. Bing, C’65, in honor of his thirty-fifth reunion, and by his son Jonathan L. Bing, C’92, to provide financial support to an undergraduate in the College majoring in history, with a preference for a student interested in studying political campaigns.
Lee Anna E. Blick Memorial Scholarship: Established in 2002 through a bequest from the estate of Lee Anna E. Blick to provide financial support to an undergraduate who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education. Preference shall be given to female students who are United States citizens of Protestant faith. The student must also major in English or history in pursuit of a liberal arts degree.
Mitchell J. Blutt and Margo Krody Blutt Challenge Fund: Established in 1999 by University Trustee Dr. Mitchell J. Blutt, C’78, M’82, WG’87, and his wife Margo Krody Blutt to provide matching funds to other donors’ gifts to financial aid endowment in the College.
Dr. Mitchell J. Blutt and Margo Krody Blutt Endowed Scholarship: Established in 1997 by University Trustee Dr. Mitchell J. Blutt, C’78, M’82, WG’87, and his wife Margo Krody Blutt and added to in 2003 in honor of his twenty-fifth reunion to provide financial support to undergraduates in the College who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education.
Gordon and Muriel Bodek Scholarship: Established in 1988 by University Trustee Emeritus Gordon Bodek, C’42, and his wife to provide scholarship support to a student in the College, to be selected on the basis of financial need and academic promise.
Herman Brall Scholarship: Established in 1991 through a bequest from the estate of Viola G. Brall in memory of her brother Herman Brall, C’15, to provide financial aid for students in the College.
Bread Upon the Waters Scholarship: Established in 1986 by Elin Danien, CGS’82, G’89, Gr’98, to provide financial assistance to women over the age of thirty attending the College of General Studies on a part-time basis.
Madeline and Kevin R. Brine Endowed Scholarship: Established in 2001, and increased in 2003, by Madeline and Kevin R. Brine, Par’04, ’08, to provide financial support to an undergraduate in the College who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education.
Browning Family Memorial Endowed Scholarship: Established in 2005 by Kenneth L. Browning and Shelley Browning, Par ’07, in memory of Mr. Browning’s father, Murray W. Browning, W’25, and in honor of their son, Zachary M. Browning, C’07, to provide financial support to an undergraduate in the College, with a preference for a student who has overcome personal adversity and is working to pay for some portion of their tuition, and who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education. The recipient should demonstrate academic excellence and compassion toward others.
Wilma Bulkin, M.D., Endowed Scholarship: Established in 2002 by Wilma Bulkin Siegel, M.D., CW’58, to provide restricted financial support to a student who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of education at Penn. Preference is for a female pre-medical undergraduate studying fine arts who is interested in using art in her medical career.
Christopher J. Carrera, C’88, College Scholarship Challenge Fund: Established in 2002 by Christopher J. Carrera, C’88, in honor of his fifteenth reunion to encourage additional scholarship gifts supporting undergraduates in the College by providing a 50% match for other donors’ gifts.
Christopher J. Carrera Endowed Scholarship: Established in 1999 by Christopher J. Carrera, C’88, to provide financial support to undergraduates in the College who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education.
Christopher J. Carrera Penn Pal Scholarship: Established in 1998 by Christopher J. Carrera, C’88, to provide financial support to an undergraduate in the College who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education.
William P. Carty Endowed Scholarship: Established in 1999 by the estate of Mr. Carty, C’34, L’37, to provide financial support to undergraduates in the College who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education.
Douglas W. Caterfino Endowed Scholarship: Established in 2003 by Elissa Shaw Caterfino, C’83, in memory of her husband Douglas, W’83, to provide financial support to an undergraduate who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of an education at the University, with a preference for a student engaged in creative writing activities on campus and specifically with the Kelly Writers House. A second semester freshman shall be chosen for the scholarship, with the award to commence at the beginning of the recipient’s sophomore year.
Censits Family Scholarship: Established in 1997 by Richard J. Censits, W’58, to provide annual financial support to undergraduates in the College, with preference given to a woman athlete participating in a varsity sport.
The Chadwell Endowed Scholarship: Established in 1999 by Richard H. Chadwell, Jr., C’55, and Wanda W. Lincoln to provide a renewable scholarship to an undergraduate, with a preference for a student who is an English or history major and has demonstrated leadership ability and a dedication to academic achievement.
Amy Caplow Chan Term Scholarship: Established in 2003 by the Leo Rosner Foundation, Inc., to provide term scholarships to students in the College “based on merit and need.”
C.Y. Cho Endowed Scholarship: Established in 2004 by Kunho Cho, C’75, and Tay Yun Cho, G’78, who are the parents of students in the Classes of 2007 and 2009, in recognition of Mr. Cho’s father. This award provides financial support to undergraduates in the College who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education, with a preference for international and/or domestic students majoring in international relations.
Joan F. and Yon K. Cho Endowed Scholarship: Established in 2004 by Yon Cho, W’84, and his wife in honor of his twentieth reunion to provide financial support to an undergraduate in the College who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education, with a preference for a student from an underrepresented minority group.
Citrin Family Endowed Scholarship: Established in 2003 by Jim and Gail Citrin, PT’79, to provide financial support for an undergraduate in the College who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education.
Blanche E. Clair Endowed Scholarship: Established in 1999 by the Philadelphia Club of Advertising Women in honor of past club president Blanche E. Clair, to provide financial support to an undergraduate in the College who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education. Preference shall be given to a female student majoring in communication.
Deborah Parry Clancy Endowed Scholarship: Established in 1999 by David T. Clancy, W’70, in memory of his first wife Deborah, CW’70, to provide financial support to an undergraduate in the College who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education. Preference shall be given to a student majoring in classical studies.
Doritte and Alfred Cohen Family Endowed Scholarship: Established in 2004 by Doritte and Alfred Cohen, Par’07, to provide financial support to an undergraduate who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education, with a preference for a student in the College.
Mel and Marilyn Cohen Endowed Scholarship: Established in 1999 by Robert A. Cohen, C’84, in honor of his parents to provide financial support to undergraduates who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education. Preference shall be given to students in the Huntsman Program in International Studies & Business.
John T. and Dorcas L. Colas Endowed Fund: Established in 2003 by John T. Colas, W’84, and Dorcas Lee Colas, C’84, to provide financial support to undergraduates enrolled in the Huntsman Program in International Studies & Business who are in pursuit of their semester or summer-abroad study or internships or who are participating in language study at a non-Penn program, or for academic year scholarship support. The funds may be used to support either domestic or international students.
Yasmine and T. Scott Coleman Endowed Scholarship: Established in 1999 by Yasmine Zyne Coleman, Esq., W’76, and T. Scott Coleman, C’76, to provide financial support to an undergraduate in the College who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education. Preference shall be given to a student athlete from an underrepresented minority group.
The College Penn Pal Scholarship: Established in 1999 by an anonymous donor to provide financial support to undergraduates in the College who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education.
Margaret and William J. Constantine Family Scholarship: Established in 2001 and added to in 2004 by William J. Constantine, C’66, WG’68, and his wife Margaret to provide financial support to a student in the College.
Robert and Rosalie Cort Scholarship: Established in 1993 by Robert Cort, C’68, G’70, WG’74, and his wife, to provide financial support to an undergraduate in the College who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education.
Robert and Rosalie Cort Endowed Scholarship for Public Service: Established in 2002 by Robert W. Cort, C’68, G’70, WG’74, and his wife in honor of his thirty-fifth reunion to provide financial support to an undergraduate in the College who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education, with a preference for a student serving as an intern in the Center for Community Partnerships assisted schools.
Charles Brinton Coxe Scholarship: Established in 1901 by Eckley Brinton Coxe, Jr., for the purpose of funding a perpetual scholarship to a student in the College in memory of his father, Charles, C’1862.
William Craven Endowed Scholarship: Established in 2003 by Helen L. Luyben, Gr’61, in honor of her husband, William Craven, to provide financial support to a junior or senior undergraduate in the College who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of an education at Penn, with a preference for a student majoring in theatre arts. If no student fitting this description is eligible for financial aid in a given year, preference shall be given to an English major.
Catherine E. Crowley Endowed Scholarship: Established in 1998 by Catherine M. Crowley, Esq., CW’75, in memory of her mother, to provide financial support to an undergraduate in the College who has financial need, with a preference for a student whose planned major is English.
DiMaura Endowed Environmental Studies Scholarship: Established in 2000 by Paul W. DiMaura, C’65, in honor of his thirty-fifth reunion to provide financial support to an undergraduate in the College majoring in biology or with an interest in conservation and/or ecology who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education.
Distinguished New York City Student Endowed Scholarship: Established in 2004 by an anonymous alumni couple in the Class of 1984 to provide financial support to an undergraduate in the College who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education, with a preference for a student from New York City.
Dosoretz Family Endowed Scholarship: Established in 2000 by Dr. and Mrs. Daniel E. Dosoretz, Par’99, ’04, to provide financial support to an undergraduate in the College who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education. Preference shall be given to Hispanic students from southwest Florida.
Frederick E. and Muriel B. Doucette Endowed Scholarship: Established in 2000 by Mr. F. E. Doucette III, C’75, to provide financial support to an undergraduate in the College who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education.
Driscoll Family Endowed Scholarship: Established in 2003 by Jude T. Driscoll, C’86, to provide financial support to an undergraduate in the College with a preference for a student serving as an intern in the Center for Community Partnerships who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of an education at the University.
W.E.B. DuBois Sociology Department Scholarship: Established in 2000 through a collaborative effort by the faculty of the Department of Sociology to provide financial support to a minority undergraduate who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education.
Cynthia Frank Edelson Endowed Scholarship: Established in 2005 by Cynthia Frank Edelson, C’80, and David B. Edelson, in honor of Ms. Edelson’s twenty-fifth reunion, to provide financial support to an undergraduate in the College who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education.
Ellner Family Endowed Scholarship: Established in 2004 by Andrew A. Ellner, W’79, and Jill Ellner to provide financial support to an undergraduate student in the College who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education, with a preference for a student majoring in biological basis of behavior.
Melissa Beth Eisenstat Penn Pal Scholarship: Established in 1998 by Melissa Beth Eisenstat, C’84, WG’88, G’88, to provide financial support to an undergraduate in the College or the Wharton School who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education.
David Elliman Endowed Scholarship: Established in 1997 by Mr. Elliman, C’73, WG’77, and added to in 2002 to provide support to an undergraduate in the College who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of an education at Penn, with a preference for a student in the biological sciences who is also studying for a dual degree at the Wharton School. In the event that there is not a dual-degree student, preference shall be given to a student majoring in the biological sciences.
Kenneth and Sherry Endelson Endowed Scholarship: Established in 2000 by Mr. and Mrs. Endelson, Par’02, to provide financial support to an undergraduate in the College who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education. Preference shall be given to a student in the humanities.
Fife Family Endowed Scholarship: Established in 2002 by Lori Fife, C'80, and Mark Fife, W'78, in honor of his twenty-fifth reunion, to provide financial support to an undergraduate in the College or the Wharton School who maintains a 3.0 GPA or better and who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education.
Lori and Mark Fife Endowed Scholarship in SAS: Established in 1998 by Lori Fife, C’80, and Mark Fife, W’78, to provide financial support to an undergraduate in the College who maintains a 3.0 or better GPA and who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education.
Stephen A. Fine Scholarship: Established in 1995 by Mr. Fine, C’70, to provide financial support to an undergraduate in the College who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education.
Flagler Greyhound Track Endowed Scholarship: Established in 2004 by Barbara H. Havenick, CW’72, and Fred S. Havenick to provide financial support to an undergraduate who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education, with a preference for a male student in the College from Miami-Dade County, Florida.
Susan Nyman Folpe and Lawrence Allen Folpe Scholarship: Established in 1988 by Herbert K. Folpe, C’59, G’62, in memory of his wife Susan, CW’62, and his brother Lawrence, W’56, to support an undergraduate in the College.
Julie and Martin Franklin Endowed Scholarship: -Established in 2005 by Julie Hinds Franklin, C’87, and Martin Ellis Franklin, C’87, to support an undergraduate student who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education, with a preference for a student in the College from Antigua.
Arnold M. Ganz Endowed Scholarship: Established in 2004 by Elinor Colker Ganz, CW’55, in memory of her husband Arnold M. Ganz, W’54, and in honor of her fiftieth reunion, to provide financial support to an undergraduate in the College who volunteers and would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education.
Marty and Gayla Fritzhand Endowed Scholarship: Established in 1997 by Marty Fritzhand, C’63, to provide annual scholarship support to an undergraduate in the College who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education.
John F. and Mary Anne Spolar Gamba Scholarship: Established in 1996 by Mr. Gamba, W’61, and Mrs. Gamba, HUP’65, G’84, to provide renewable scholarship support to incoming freshmen with financial need in the College who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of an education at Penn. Students should be from the Northeast or Mid-Atlantic region.
Richard C. Garfield Endowed Scholarship: Established in 1998 by Wizards of the Coast, Inc., in honor of company president Richard C. Garfield, C’85, Gr’93, to provide a scholarship to an undergraduate in the College who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education, with a preference for a senior majoring in mathematics who is interested in combinatorics.
Robert W. Gelfman Endowed Scholarship: Established in 2002 by Robert W. Gelfman, W’53, in honor of Dr. Henry J. Abraham, Gr’52, a professor in the Department of Political Science who taught at the University from 1949 to 1972. The purpose of the fund is to provide financial support to a student majoring in political science who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education.
Jamshed Ghandhi Challenge Fund: Established in 2002 by University Trustee and Huntsman Program in International Studies & Business Advisory Board Chair Paul K. Kelly, C’62, WG’64, to provide a 50% match to other donors’ gifts to financial aid endowment. This grant will match scholarship gifts designated for United States and international students in the Huntsman Program in International Studies & Business, a joint program between the College and the Wharton School. The Fund was established in honor of Jamshed Ghandhi, W’56, G’57, associate professor of finance, who served as the inaugural director of the Huntsman Program from 1994 to 2000.
J.K.S. Ghandhi Scholarship: Established in 1995 by James Zucker, W’70, in honor of Dr. Ghandhi, W’56, G’57, associate professor of finance, who served as director of the Huntsman Program from 1994 to 2000. The scholarship is intended to support students in the Huntsman Program in International Studies & Business, a joint program between the College and the Wharton School.
Rosalie Gilles Memorial Endowed Scholarship: Established by the estate of Rosalie Noble Gilles, CW’45, to provide scholarship assistance to an undergraduate with exceptional aptitude in the sciences who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education.
Joseph B. Glossberg Endowed Scholarship: Established in 1998 by Mr. Glossberg, W’63, WG’65, to provide financial support to an undergraduate in the College who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education, with a preference for a student majoring in economics.
Glosserman Family Endowed Scholarship: Established in 1999 by Michael J. Glosserman, W’68, and his wife Marilyn, to provide financial support to undergraduates in the College who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education.
Golden Family Endowed Scholarship for Public Service: Established in 2003 by Daniel H. Golden, Par’02, ’06, to provide financial support to an undergraduate in the College with a preference for a student serving as an intern in the Center for Community Partnerships assisted community schools, who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education.
Susan Udolf Goldenberg and Jeffrey Goldenberg Endowed Scholarship: Established in 2003 by Susan Udolf Goldenberg, C’85, L’88, and Jeffrey Goldenberg to provide financial support to an undergraduate in the College who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of an education at Penn.
Goldie Anna Term Scholarship: Established in 1999 and added to in 2004 by the Goldie Anna Charitable Trust, to provide financial support to undergraduates in the College who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of an education at Penn.

Kotok, W’65, G’01, and others in memory of Suzanne Nye Greenberg, CW’68, to provide financial support to undergraduate women in the College of General Studies who qualify for financial aid through the Bread Upon the Waters Scholarship Fund.
Pearl and George Greene Memorial Scholarship: Established in 1998 by Barry S. Greene, W’67, and his wife Carolyn, in memory of his parents, to provide renewable aid to freshmen in the College who have demonstrated a significant interest in and talent for the performing arts.

Preference shall be given to a student participating in a dual degree program in the College and the Wharton School.
Virginia Steele Grubb Endowed Scholarship: Established in 2001 by Virginia Steele Grubb, CW’51, GEd’54, in honor of her fiftieth reunion and in memory of Dr. Allan R. Day, former professor of chemistry. The recipient will be an undergraduate in the College, with a preference for a graduate of Philadelphia High School for Girls who has an interest in the arts or music, and who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education.
Gruber Family Endowed Scholarship: Established
in 1999 by Mr. and Mrs. L. Burton Gruber, and their children
Harry Gruber,
C’73, M’77; Allen Gruber, C’77, M’79;
and Hope Gruber Shannin, W’72, to provide scholarship
support to an incoming freshman with financial need who has
demonstrated intellectual curiosity and academic excellence,
and who has a track record of accomplishment. The award will
be renewed in subsequent years provided the recipient continues
to have financial need and maintains a 3.0 or better GPA.
The fund will be awarded in perpetuity on a rotating basis
as follows: the first two recipients will be from the College,
the third recipient will be from the College, the School
of Engineering and Applied Science or the Wharton School.

in 1999 by Harry E. Gruber, C’73, M’77, to provide
a 50% match for other donors’ gifts to the Southern
California Regional Scholarship Fund that are designated
for undergraduates in the College.
Ellen and Robert G. Gutenstein Student Assistance Fund: Established in 1969 by Mr. Gutenstein, W’55, and his wife to provide loans to undergraduates who plan to major in economics or finance.

Halprin, C’87, W’87, L’91, and Annette Quinn Halprin, C’88, to provide financial support to an upperclassman who demonstrates a commitment to improving the lives of others by intending to become a research scientist and/or medical doctor and by pursuing a course of study in the biological sciences, with a preference for Vagelos Scholars, residents of Dade County, Florida, and/or members of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity or Phi Sigma Sigma sorority.

Hart, W'89, and Allison Brody Hart, C'98, to support an undergraduate who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education, with a first preference for a student from Baltimore County, Maryland, and a second preference for a student from the state of Maryland. The scholarship will alternate between a College student and a Wharton student every four years.

George E. and Dorothy J. Heinze Endowed Scholarship: Established in 2001 by George E. Heinze, C’51, and his wife Dorothy, in honor of his fiftieth reunion to provide financial support to a chemistry major who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education.
Charles and Virginia Kinsman Henderson Scholarship: Established in 1996 by Charles Henderson III, WG’74, through a bequest from the estate of his parents, Charles Henderson, Jr., C’31, and Virginia Kinsman Henderson, Ed’30, G’36. The fund provides one grant, in memory of Mrs. Henderson, to a woman who has returned to complete an undergraduate degree, and one grant, in memory of Mr. Henderson, to a College student who pursues classical music as an avocation.
Harold Hertzog Scholarship: Established in 1993 by David Hertzog, Esq., W’66, in memory of his father, to provide four-year renewable scholarships to freshmen in the College.

Peter A. Hochfelder Challenge Fund: Established in 2004 by Peter A. Hochfelder, C’84, in honor of his twentieth reunion to encourage additional gifts to support undergraduate scholarships for students in the College by providing a 50% match for other donors’ gifts.

Preference shall be given to a Chinese student applying from anywhere in the world. The recipient should maintain an acceptable academic standing.
ICAR Foundation Endowed Scholarship: Established in 2003 by Marsha Plotnitsky, C’78, WG’80, and the ICAR (Institute for the Cooperation of Art and Research) Foundation, a non-profit organization founded to create new opportunities for art research and education. The fund is established in honor of the donor's twenty-fifth reunion, and recipients will be undergraduates in the music department who have an interest in contemporary classical music and who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education.
The Just in Case Scholarship: Established in 1997 by Dr. Anne C. Flick, CW’74, GEd’76, and Neil S. Braun, C’74, to provide financial support to an undergraduate in the College who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education. Preference shall be given to a student who has overcome personal adversity in order to attend Penn and has demonstrated compassion for others.
Kagan Family Endowed Scholarship: Established in 2003 by Janet Maisel Kagan, C’84, and her husband, Howard, in honor of her twentieth reunion to provide support to an undergraduate in the College who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of an education at Penn.

enrolled in pre-med courses with the intention of entering

Kaplan Penn Pal Scholarship: Established in 1997 by Arthur M. Kaplan, C’67, to benefit a lesbian, gay, or bisexual upperclassman in the College who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of an education at Penn. The award is renewable based on financial need.
Robin and Jeffrey Kaplan Endowed Scholarship: Established in 2001 by Robin Harrison Kaplan, C’91, and her husband Jeffrey Kaplan, W’87, to provide financial support to a College or Wharton undergraduate who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education.

Sheryl Drangel Kaye Endowed Scholarship: Established in 2004 by Chip Kaye in honor of his wife Sheryl’s, W’86, birthday to support an undergraduate in the College or the Wharton School from India who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education.
Susan L. Keim Memorial Endowed Scholarship: Established in 2002 by Donald B. Keim, Par’05, in memory of his wife to provide financial support for a female undergraduate in the College who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of an education at Penn. The award shall be renewed in subsequent years if the recipient continues to have financial need and maintains a 3.0 or better GPA.

Monica and Gerald Knorr Endowed Scholarship: Established in 2002 by Gerald D. Knorr, W’82, WG’86, and Monica Thomas Knorr, W’85, to provide financial support to an undergraduate in the Huntsman Program in International Studies & Business who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of an education at Penn, with a preference for an international student from eastern Europe. First preference shall be given to a student from Poland or Slovakia.
Natalie I. Koether Scholarship: Established in 1997 and endowed in 2001 in honor of her fortieth reunion by the late Natalie I. Koether, Esq., CW’61, L’65, to provide financial support to an undergraduate in the College who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education.
Jonathan W. Kolker Scholarship: Established in 1996 and added to in 2004 by Mr. Kolker, W’57, to support a student in the College from the state of Maryland who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education.
Lori and Kit Konolige Endowed Scholarship: Established in 2004 by Lori Konolige and Kit Konolige, WG’89, to provide financial support to an undergraduate who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education. This fund will alternate between the Wharton School and the College every four years and shall support a student of excellent character and motivation, with a preference for a child of immigrant parents.
Jackie Koo Penn Pal Scholarship: Established in 1999 by Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Koo, Par’03, and Mr. Barry Schnittman, L’74, to provide financial support to an undergraduate in the College who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education.
David L. Kosloff Term Scholarship: Established in 1997 by David L. Kosloff, C’90, to provide scholarships to undergraduates in the College, with a preference for students from the Philadelphia area who are graduates of Akiba Hebrew Academy in Merion Station, Pennsylvania.
Samuel R. Kozloff Endowed Scholarship: Established in 2000 by David M. Kozloff, L’66, Jeraldine D. Kozloff, L’68, and family, and friends in memory of Sam, C’90. The fund provides financial support to an undergraduate in the College who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education.
Kradjian Scholarship: Established in 2005 by Ara Kradjian, W’55, in honor of his fiftieth reunion to provide financial support to an undergraduate in the College majoring in fine arts who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education.

Preference shall be given to a student in the Jewish Studies Program.
Lachs-Adler Family Penn Pal Scholarship: Established in 1999 by Susanna E. Lachs, CW’74, ASC’76, and Dean S. Adler, W’79, L’83, in honor of their twenty-fifth and twentieth reunions respectively, and increased in 2004 in honor of their thirtieth reunions, to provide financial support to a student who is unable to meet the cost of a Penn education. The recipient can be a student majoring in either the liberal arts or business.

Joseph and Loretta Law Scholarships: Two term funds established in 1993 by Mr. and Mrs. Law for scholarships to students of Chinese ancestry enrolled in the Wharton School and the College. The Laws have four sons who graduated from Penn’s School of Medicine, three of whom also attended the College.
Edward J. Lenkin Endowed Scholarship: Established in 2001 by Edward J. Lenkin, C’71, to provide financial support to a College undergraduate from Washington, D.C., who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education.

Levy, W’83, to provide financial support to an undergraduate who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of an education at Penn, with a preference for a student in the Huntsman Program in International Studies & Business.
William J. Levy Endowed Scholarship: Established in 1999 by William J. Levy, W’57, L’64, and added to in 2004 to provide renewable scholarships to incoming freshmen in the College. Recipients are selected based on financial need and academic excellence, with preference given to students who have demonstrated a desire to contribute to society as evidenced by part-time work and extracurricular activities in high school. Awards will alternate between male and female undergraduates.
Esther and Bernard Lichtenstein Endowed Scholarship: Established in 2003 by an anonymous donor to provide financial support for students in the Huntsman Program in International Studies & Business. Preference will be given to an incoming U.S. or international freshman, wherever the need is greater, who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education.
Bryn Sara Linkow Scholarship: Established in 2000 by the Bryn Sara Linkow Foundation in memory of Bryn Sara Linkow and Devin Shaffer, C’90. The fund provides financial support to an undergraduate in the College who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education. Preference shall be given to a member of the tennis team.
Barbara and Frank Litwin Term Scholarship: Established in 2000 by Barbara Weiler Litwin, C’84, and Frank Litwin, C’85, to provide financial support to an undergraduate in the College, who has a demonstrated strong interest in public service and who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education.

Frederick W. Meier, Jr., Endowed Scholarship: Established in 1997 by Frederick W. Meier, Jr., C’65, to provide renewable scholarships to freshmen in the College, with preference to students who are studying “core” disciplines: economics, English, history, mathematics, philosophy, physics, and Romance languages. The award is based on financial need.

Helen and Sam Menies Endowed Scholarship: Established in 2003 by an anonymous donor to provide financial support for students in the Huntsman Program in International Studies & Business. Preference shall be given to an incoming U.S. or international freshman, wherever the need is greater, who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education.
Millennium Scholarship: Established in 2000 by the College Alumni Society Board of Managers and by alumni and friends who wish to support undergraduate financial aid, with a preference for students in the College who have financial need.
Barbara Ellen Miller Scholarship: Established in 2001 through a bequest from the estate of Stanley F. Miller, Par’85, in memory of his wife, to provide financial support to a deserving physically handicapped freshman, who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education.

Miller and Helen Miller Wolf Endowed Scholarship: Established in 1999 through the estates of Helen Miller Wolf, OT’31, and her father to support undergraduates with financial need in the College. Preference shall be given to students from western Pennsylvania, Virginia, and South Carolina.

Preference shall be given to students from a New York City public school.

Marcena Moore Endowed Scholarship: Established in 2002 by Gregory B. Moore in honor of his mother’s 80th birthday, to provide financial support to women over the age of thirty attending the College of General Studies on a part-time basis.
Donald and Kim Netter Endowed Scholarship: Established in 1999 by Donald T. Netter, W’83, and his wife to provide financial support to an undergraduate in the College who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education and who is a United States citizen from an underrepresented group on campus.
William D. and Frances Bickell Novelli Endowed Scholarship: Established in 2001 by William D. Novelli, C’63, ASC’64, and his wife Frances, CW’64, to support students in the College who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education.
Harry D. Nudelman Endowed Scholarship: Established in 2002 by Harry D. Nudelman, C’85, W’85, WG’89, to provide financial support to an undergraduate in the College who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of an education at Penn, with a preference for a Jewish student.
Abraham J. Nydick Endowed Scholarship: Established in 2003 through a bequest from the estate of Robert Nydick for the purpose of providing financial support to an undergraduate in the College who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of an education at Penn, with a preference for a student majoring in chemistry.
Julian Ostrover Endowed Scholarship: Established in 2003 by Douglas Ostrover, C’84, in honor of his father, Julian Ostrover, to provide financial support to an undergraduate in the College who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education.
Paneyko Family Endowed Scholarship: Established in 2005 by Stephen H. Paneyko, C’65, in honor of his fortieth reunion to provide financial support to a student in the College who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education.
Gordon A. Paris Endowed Scholarship: Established in 2000 and increased in 2004 by Gordon A. Paris, C’75, WG’77, to provide financial support to an undergraduate who is a dual degree major in the College and the Wharton School and who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education.
Penn Family Endowed Scholarship: Established in 1999 by Arthur H. Penn, W’85, WG’86, and Ilene Dalinka Penn, C’88, to provide financial support to an undergraduate who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education. Preference shall be given to students in the Wharton School or the College.
Perry Family Endowed Scholarship: Established in 2001 by James N. Perry, Jr., C’82, to provide financial support for an undergraduate in the College. Preference shall be given to a student from an inner-city Catholic high school in Chicago supported by the Big Shoulders Program who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education. If no student fitting this description is eligible for financial aid in a given year, preference shall be given to a student from any inner-city Chicago Catholic high school, then to a student in an inner-city Catholic high school in any state.
Pfluger Family of Aargau Endowed Scholarship:
Established in 1997 by Scott S. A. Coby, W’68, to provide financial
support to an undergraduate in the College who would otherwise
be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education, with preference
for a student who is either Swiss or is of Swiss/American
dual nationality.
Pincus-Magaziner Family Endowed Scholarship: Established
in 1997 by Irwin J. Pincus, M.D., C’33, GrM’51,
and Lena Magaziner Pincus, CW’36, to provide renewable
scholarships to juniors with financial need and high academic
performance who are majoring in biology, biological basis
of behavior, literature, English, art history, or math.
Julie Beren Platt and Marc E. Platt Endowed Scholarship: Established in 2004 by Julie Beren Platt, C’79 and Marc E. Platt, C’79, to provide financial support to an undergraduate in the College who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education.
Pong Ding Yuen Endowed Scholarship: Established in 1998 by David Pong Chun-Yee, W’91, to provide financial support to an undergraduate in the Huntsman Program in International Studies & Business who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education, with a preference for a student from Hong Kong or the People’s Republic of China.
Maury Povich Scholarship: Established in 1997 by Mr. Povich, C’62, to support students in the College, with a preference for minority students from Philadelphia.
Samuel H. Preston Endowed Scholarship: Established in 2004 by Mark S. Landau, C’79, and his wife, Janet Brief Landau, C’79, in honor of their twenty-fifth reunion, to honor SAS Dean Sam Preston and to provide support to an undergraduate in the College who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education, with a preference for a student from northern New Jersey.
Cindy and Howard Rachofsky Endowed Scholarship: Established in 2001 by Howard E. Rachofsky, W’66, and his wife, to provide financial support to an undergraduate who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education. Preference shall be given to a student in the undergraduate Fine Arts Program with a concentration in the visual arts.
Howard E. Rachofsky Scholarship: Established in 1991 by Howard E. Rachofsky, W’66, to support financial aid for undergraduates in the College.
Edward and Lisa Raice Endowed Scholarship: Established in 1993 by Lisa Herman Raice, W’79, WG’79, and Edward Raice, C’78, W’78, and increased in 2002 in honor of their twenty-fifth reunions, to provide renewable scholarships to undergraduates in the College who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education.

Rose Family Endowed Scholarship: Established by Gary D. Rose, C’67, and his wife Karen Bress Rose, CW’67, GEd’68, to provide financial support to an undergraduate in the College who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education. Preference shall be given to a student who has demonstrated an interest in, and commitment to, performing arts, particularly music, and who also possesses intellectual curiosity and a desire to participate in the cultural life at Penn.
Rosen Family Endowed Scholarship: Established in 1998 by Donald P. Rosen, M.D., C’78, and increased in 2002 in honor of his twenty-fifth reunion, to provide financial support to an undergraduate in the College who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education.
Dale and Robert Rosen Scholarship: Established in 1998 by Dale and Robert Rosen, parents of Josh Rosen, C’96, to provide scholarships for students in the College.
Judith R. Rosenberg Endowed Scholarship: Established in 1999 by Judith R. Rosenberg, CW’41, to provide financial support to undergraduates in the College who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education. Preference shall be given to students who have a demonstrated interest in public service.
Howard and Susan Ross Endowed Scholarship: Established in 2003 by Howard D. Ross, W’73, and his wife Susan, in honor of their children, Matthew, W’04, and Rachael, C’06, to provide financial support for a student in the College from Pennsylvania or New Jersey who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education.
Lillian Landau Rothenberg Memorial Scholarship Fund: Established in 1994 through a gift from the estate of Lillian Landau Rothenberg, and supported by her daughter, Ann Belle Rosenberg; and her granddaughters, Ronney Lynne Rosenberg, C’84, WG’88, G’88; and Joanne R. Soslow, C’87, W’87, to provide a grant to dual degree students in the College and the Wharton School for the purchase of course-related books.
Rothfeld Family Scholarship: Established in 2000 by the Rothfeld Family Foundation to provide financial support to an undergraduate in the College who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education. Preference shall be given to a student with a demonstrated interest in public service.
Billie Rosenthal Rubinoff Scholarship for Jewish Services: An anonymous gift established in 1991 to provide a three-year renewable scholarship to a sophomore in the College who has “an interest in furthering volunteerism and leadership in the religious Jewish community.” Preference shall be given to a female from outside the Philadelphia metropolitan area.
Rutstein Family Endowed Scholarship: Established in 1998 by David W. Rutstein, Esq., C’66, to provide financial support to an undergraduate in the College who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education.
Ryan’s Way Endowed Scholarship: Established in 2001 by Nancy Peters Ryan, CW’61, in honor of her fortieth reunion to provide financial support to a female undergraduate from the state of New York majoring in one of the sciences who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education.
Susan Small Savitsky Endowed Scholarship: Established in 2004 by Susan Small Savitsky, CW’75, in honor of her thirtieth reunion and the MARAB Initiative to provide financial support to an undergraduate who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education, with a preference for a student in the College.
Sandra and Joel Saxe Scholarship: Established in 1995 by Mrs. Saxe, CW’60, in memory of Mr. Saxe, W’59, to support undergraduates in the College who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education.
Steven M. Schatz Scholarship: Established in 2001 by Steven M. Schatz, C’69, to support an undergraduate in the College who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education.
Peter L. Schauble Scholarship: Established in 1987 through a bequest from the estate of Katharine M. Schauble, in memory of her husband who graduated in 1910, to provide scholarships for students in the College.
Curtis J. Schenker Penn Pal Scholarship: Established in 1998 by Mr. Schenker, C’80, to provide financial support to an undergraduate in the Huntsman Program in International Studies & Business who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education, with a preference for a U.S. citizen.
School of Arts and Sciences Undergraduate Endowed Scholarship: Established in 1987 by gifts from various alumni to provide undergraduate scholarships to students in the College.
Fred W. Schmucker Memorial Endowed Scholarship: Established in 2004 by B. Andrew Schmucker, C’87, W’87, and Linda N. Schmucker, C’86, in honor of Mr. Schmucker’s grandfather, Fred W. Schmucker, W’28, to provide financial support to an undergraduate who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education. Preference shall be given to a student in the College from a single parent household whose other parent is deceased.
David H. Schultz Scholarship: Established in 1985 by the family of Mr. Schultz, W’48, in his honor to create a scholarship for students in the College.
Mark J. and Marie L. Schwartz Family Endowed Scholarship: Established in 2004 by Mark J. Schwartz, W’79, and Marie L. Schwartz in honor of his twenty-fifth reunion, to provide financial support to an undergraduate in the College or Wharton who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of an education at Penn, with a preference for a student interested in working in the retail industry.
Barry A. and Barbara M. Schwimmer Endowed Scholarship: Established in 2003 by Barry A. Schwimmer, W’79, and Barbara M. Schwimmer, W’82, in honor of his twenty-fifth reunion, to provide financial support to an undergraduate in the College or Wharton School who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of an education at Penn.
Earl Scott Scholarship: A term scholarship established in 1999 by Ruth Radbill Scott, CW’47, in memory of her husband, Earl S. Scott, to provide financial support to undergraduate women in the College of General Studies who qualify for financial aid through the Bread Upon the Waters Scholarship Fund.
Bernard Segal Memorial Scholarship: Established in 1997 by the law firm of Schnader, Harrison, Segal and Lewis in honor of their late chairman, Bernard G. Segal, Esq., C’28, L’31, Hon’69, with preference for an African American student in the College who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education.
Milton Selig Scholarship: Established in 1989 through a bequest from the estate of J. Daniel Selig, C’59, in honor of his father for a qualified male undergraduate majoring in the history of art and architecture.
Seltzer Family International Studies & Business Scholarship: Originally established in 1994 and endowed in 1998 by Jeffrey L. Seltzer, W’78, and Ana Seltzer to provide financial support for undergraduates enrolled in the Huntsman Program in International Studies & Business, a dual degree program of Wharton and the College, with a preference for U.S. citizens. Specifically, it will aid students who are in pursuit of their semester- or summer-abroad program or internship experience or who are studying a language at a non-Penn program in the United States. In 2003, Mr. and Mrs. Seltzer made an additional gift in honor of his twenty-fifth reunion.
Joan and Jerry Serchuck Endowed Scholarship: Established in 2002 by Mr. and Mrs. Serchuck, grandparents ’04, to provide financial support to a student in the College who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education.
Corey R. and Amy W. Shanus Endowed Scholarship: Established in 2003 by Corey R. Shanus, C’78, and Amy Wagner Shanus, C’82, in honor of his twenty-fifth reunion to provide financial support to an undergraduate in the College who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of an education at Penn, with preference for a student majoring in physics or astronomy.
Shaw-Collar Scholarship: Established in 1989 through a gift from Miss Elva M. Collar in memory of her life-long friend Miss Gertrude C. Shaw, Ed’31, GEd’35, to be used for education majors.
Donna and Larry Shelley Endowed Scholarship: Established in 2003 by Donna Reff Shelley, C’82, and Larry Shelley, W’80, to provide financial support to an undergraduate in the College who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education, with a preference for a female student from New York City or the Northeast.

C.Y. Tung Endowed Scholarship: Established in 1994 by the family of the late C.Y. Tung in his memory, to assist students in the College, with preference given to students from China.
Hedvika Marie Urban and Bohumir and Marie Kejklicek Endowed Scholarship: Established in 2003 by Richard B. Urban, V.M.D., C’79, V’82, to provide financial support to an undergraduate in the College who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of an education at Penn. Preference shall be given to a student pursuing a liberal arts education with a focus within the sciences and consideration for post-graduate work in veterinary medicine, basic research, or any of the health sciences.
Vagelos Endowed Scholars in Molecular Life Sciences: Established in 1997 by University Trustee Emeritus P. Roy Vagelos, M.D., C’50, and his wife Diana, to fund students in the Vagelos Scholars Program in Molecular Life Sciences. A select number of students with financial need who are interested in working on biomedical frontier problems are designated Vagelos Scholars.
Roy and Marianthi Vagelos Scholarship: Established in 1986 by University Trustee Emeritus P. Roy Vagelos, M.D., C’50, and his wife Diana, in memory of his parents, to help support an incoming student in the sciences for his or her four undergraduate years.
Craig D. Vinelli Memorial Scholarship: Established in 1986 through gifts made by the family of Mr.Vinelli, W’69, WG’73, for undergraduates majoring in economics or international finance who have financial need.
Luis J. L. and Elizabeth C. Virata Endowed Scholarship: Established in 2004 by Luis Virata, WG’79, and his wife Elizabeth to provide financial support to an undergraduate who is a citizen of the Republic of the Philippines, who completed his/her secondary education in the Philippines and who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education. The first preference shall be given to a student in the Huntsman Program in International Studies & Business; second preference for any student in any other undergraduate school or program at Penn.
Vought Endowed Fund: Established in 2004 by Andrew M. Vought, C’75, and Andrea M. Testa to provide financial support to undergraduates enrolled in the Huntsman Program in International Studies & Business who are in pursuit of their semester or summer-abroad study or internships or who are participating in language study at a non-Penn program, or for academic year scholarship support. The fund may be used to support either domestic or international students.
Daniel and Jill Wallen Endowed Scholarship: Established in 1997 by Daniel and Jill Wallen, Par’00, ’02, to provide financial support to an undergraduate in the College who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education.
Betty Oliensis Weisberg Endowed Scholarship: Established in 2003 by Joseph A. Goldblum, W’71, and his wife Jane in memory of her mother, to provide financial support to an undergraduate in the College who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of an education at Penn, with a preference for a student interested in the humanities.
Michele K. Wertz Memorial Scholarship: Established in 1987 through gifts made by the family of Ms. Wertz, C’89, to provide scholarships for students in the College.
Williams Family Endowed Scholarship: Established in 1998 by University Trustee Paul C. Williams, W’67, to provide renewable scholarship support to freshmen in the College who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education, with a preference for students majoring in biology, chemistry, English, or music.
Williams Family Memorial Endowed Scholarship: Established in 2003 by the James S. Williams Charitable Annuity Trust in honor of James S. Williams, M.D., C’54, to provide financial support to an undergraduate who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of an education at Penn. Preference shall be given to a female and male undergraduate in the College from Monroe County, New York, who participated in high school varsity sports and intends to participate in varsity sports at the University of Pennsylvania.
Diane Williams Endowed Scholarship: Established

of Diane Williams, CW’68, to provide financial support
for a freshman entering the College who has demonstrated
a commitment to creative writing as evidenced by his or her
activity during high school.
Clara H. Williamson Scholarship: Established in 1973 by Dr.
Arleigh Williamson, in honor of his wife, CCT’14, G’15,
Gr’17, on her 80th birthday, to assist a woman in the
College.
Stacey Winston-Levitan Endowed Scholarship: Established in 2003 by Stacey Winston-Levitan, C’84, in honor of her twentieth reunion to provide financial support to an undergraduate in the College who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of an education at Penn, with a preference for a student from the Pacific Northwest majoring in either history of art or fine arts.
Leo S. Wou, FAIA, Memorial Scholarship: Established in 2000 by Mrs. Mary Fong Wou in honor of her husband to provide financial support to an undergraduate who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education. Preference shall be given to a sophomore with a major in architecture.
M.M.A. Zayan/M. El-Tahry Memorial Endowed Scholarship: Established in 2004 by Ehsan El-Tahry Zayan, CW’73, to provide financial support to an undergraduate in the College who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education. Preference shall be given to a student with a major or minor in classical studies, anthropology, Near Eastern studies, or religious studies and a demonstrated interest in the classical Mediterranean period when Alexandria was one of three cosmopolitan centers of the region.
Zhuang Endowed Scholarship: Established in 2000 by Dr.Yimin Zhuang, Gr’90, and Fengxiao Zhang to provide financial support to undergraduates in the College who are from the People’s Republic of China and who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education.
