International Programs
in the School of Arts and Sciences
Mission Statement
An important task is to prepare ourselves to live and work
effectively, knowledgeably, and sensitively in a world characterized
by increasing interdependence among the cultures and nations of the
world. SAS believes that students develop a true understanding of
international diversity only through direct contact with other
cultures and other languages. Toward these ends, the School of Arts
and Sciences works to create new opportunities in international
education as well as to devise ways to expose our students to the
rich cultural diversity within the Philadelphia community.
SAS encourages departments to make study abroad part of the major,
to embed studies of other cultures in the undergraduate curriculum,
and to explore multiculturalism in the Philadelphia area for
students who for financial or other reasons cannot go abroad.
