At no other time in recent history has the study of international relations been more relevant and important to lives in America and the World. We live in a world that is rapidly evolving from the stability of the Cold War to the dynamic world of strategic reassessment, rise of new powers, war on terror, and rapid globalization. In order to meet the challenges posed by this rapidly evolving and complex world, we strive to train our students to acquire the analytical power to assess any international situation intelligently, the sensitivities to the nuances of foreign cultures, and the ability to clearly and persuasively express their points-of-view. In short, as part of an university that strives to train the leaders of tomorrow, we take our responsibility seriously---our graduates will go on to provide the solutions to tomorrow's global problems.
As an unique inter-disciplinary program within the School of Arts and Sciences, our students will be trained across three primary social science disciplines---political science, economics and history. In addition to the core curriculum which provides a solid training in these three fields, our majors are expected to craft an individualized curriculum across the many disciplines offered at the University of Pennsylvania to uniquely suit their interests and career aspirations.
Come and speak to one of our academic advisors to find out more about the Program in International Relations, and take your first step in making a difference in world affairs.
