Career Reflections from Alumni of the Program in International Relations

Other

I wait tables in California and am a race car driver (nonprofessional).

Tyler, Class of 2006

My International Relations degree continued me on a lifelong quest.  The interdisciplinary nature of the program aided me in future studies as I could see how different disciplines intersected and disparate theories and facts wove together in a seamless tapestry. After Penn, I received a Master's of Divinity degree from Yale University and left there to embark in a career in parish ministry.

The International Relations degree helped me most during a tenure in the Buffalo area where I worked with refugees at Vive Inc. and taught International Relations at to seniors at a local high school. I have returned to rural ministry and have recently begun a partnership with a church in Cordoba, Argentina where I have been able to lead a short-term missions trip.  That endeavor may be expanding as that group may be venturing into the Salta region of Argentina in the coming year.  My studies have come to life since engaging people from various cultures, but those studies truly came to life when living in a household in a foreign land and working alongside the people there to accomplish common goals.
