Speaker:
Professor Vanessa Ogle
Come join us at 5pm this Thursday February 9th in STIT B6 to hear history professor Vanessa Ogle consider questions such as, "Is the world evolving toward a global civil society, and perhaps toward global government? Is the state becoming irrelevant in an evermore interconnected world of global flows of capital, goods, labor, and ideas?" This pertinent talk explores the strange fate of the state in the history of 20th century international relations by looking at examples like the United Nations, transnational Human Rights norms, the European Union on the one hand, and religious/ethnic nationalism, migration control, and border fortification on the other. SIR looks forward to seeing you then!
