Alessandra Mirra is currently Visiting Scholar in Italian Studies at Upenn where she is teaching a course on Italian Love Poetry from Stilnovo to Pasolini, and  she is also Adjunct Assistant Professor of Italian at Temple University. She received a Laurea in Letteratura italiana from the University of Rome La Sapienza (2004), a Doctorate in Italianistica from the University of Macerata (2008) and a Ph.D. in Italian Studies from the University of Pennsylvania (2015). Here she has also received a Graduate Cinema Certificate.

Her research is mainly focused on Giacomo Leopardi, but she has also worked and published on other nineteenth and early twentieth-century Italian authors, such as D’Annunzio, Pascoli, Gozzano and Cicognani.
