Lettore and Cultural Officer, Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs
Rita Pasqui is Lettore (appointed by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs) at the University of Pennsylvania and Cultural Officer at the Consulate General of Italy in Philadelphia. She received her Italian Laurea in Classics from the University of Perugia and Master’s Degrees in Applied Linguistics and Language Pedagogy from “Ca’ Foscari” University in Venice and from the University for Foreigners in Perugia. She has taught Italian as a Second Language at the University for Foreigners in Perugia, at the University of Alexandria ( Egypt), at New York University and The New School in New York. Her interests are wide ranging, from theoretical syntax and phonology to methods and techniques in the teaching of Italian as L2. Her research topics include the role of music in foreign language instruction, the integration of literary texts in the language curriculum, and the application of web-based technology to the teaching of modern languages.
