Housed in the School of Arts & Sciences (SAS), Online Learning has a dedicated staff of producers, directors and instructional designers who help to expand SAS’ digital education offerings.
Online Learning collaborates with Penn faculty on aspects of instructional design, digital pedagogy and multimedia educational productions. We produce virtual lectures for delivery through Penn's learning management system, Canvas. Rather than simply post lectures online, Online Learning carefully collaborates with professors to tailor their lectures to the unique circumstances of the online environment.
Online Learning encompasses an array of accessible online education programs. We offer more than 30 for-credit, online courses per academic year and summer term. Courses are open to all students at the University of Pennsylvania. Online Learning stays ahead of the curve with massive open online courses (MOOCs) that cover a wide array of fascinating topics and are taught by Arts & Sciences faculty.
Canvas-based online communities for students in Liberal & Professional Studies programs are also hosted and managed by Online Learning. These virtual communities provide students with a central location to receive updates from program directors, connect with their peers and interact with institutions and resources around Penn.
