Master of Medical Physics Open House

Join Program Director, Kate Spillane, current students, faculty, and alumni for a panel discussion about the Master of Medical Physics Program.

The event will feature a tour of the new 220-ton particle accelerator, currently under construction at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania’s Roberts Proton Therapy Center. The cyclotron, schedule to begin operation in 2009, will be the largest of its kind in the world and the only cancer treatment center to fully integrate conventional radiology treatment and proton beam therapy.

The Master of Medical Physics program provides students with rigorous training in essential graduate physics courses as well as more traditional coursework in medical physics, anatomy, radiation and biology. The program offers a well-rounded education, balancing classroom, laboratory, and clinical experiences. Students will be introduced to both clinical and research aspects of medical physics through the University of Pennsylvania Health System’s (UPHS) state-of-the-art medical imaging and therapy facilities. The program also stresses communication, ethics, and responsibility (in both clinical and research settings), promoting the highest possible standards in patient care.
