MES/MBA Dual Degree

The School of Arts and Sciences and the Wharton School have launched a program to enable students to earn a dual Master of Environmental Studies/Master of Business Administration degree in three years or less. This course of study will groom students interested in environmental issues for global leadership roles in environmental management, finance, and other business specialties.

MES/MGA Dual Degree

A dual degree program between the Fels Institute of Government and the College of Liberal and Professional Studies offers students the opportunity to earn a Master of Government Administration (MGA) and a Master of Environmental Studies (MES) concurrently. This dual degree program enhances the interdisciplinary approach used in the MES program. Students who participate in this 2 year degree program will be able to close a gap between government and high-quality environmental management that is lacking in a single degree program.

Multi-Master's Degree in International Environmental Management

Advanced students in the MES program can apply for admission to a multi-master's degree program in International Environmental Management. Upon completion of their studies, students will receive a Mastère Spécialisè degree in Environmental Management from the Ecole des Mines de Paris in France and a Master of Engineering degree from Tsinghua University in China, in addition to the Master of Environmental Studies degree from the University of Pennsylvania.

Submatriculation for Penn Undergrads

An option for Penn Undergraduates is to sub-matriculate into the Master of Environmental Studies program.  Sub matriculation allows an undergraduate student to begin their Graduate career before finishing their undergraduate program.

Submatriculation Benefits

  • In most cases sub-matriculation allows a student to finish both the undergraduate and graduate program in 5 years.
  • Four courses may be Double counted toward both the undergraduate and graduate programs.
