Students have the opportunity to attend many seminars outside the classroom such as a talk entitled "Will China run out of water?" given at the Institute for Environmental Studies Seminar Series.

Masters of Environmental Studies students work and study in one of the nation's most distinguished research universities, where they are enriched by a vibrant community of scholars and an extensive network of services.

World-class faculty: recipients of academia's highest honors, including in recent years the National Medal of Science, the Pulitzer Prize and the Kyoto Prize.

Collaboration across disciplines: by it's very nature Environmental Studies is interdisciplinary. At the University of Pennsylvania students have access to all twelve graduate and professional schools on one compact campus. There are more than 150 research centers and institutes including:

Thought-provoking Speakers: Students are encouraged to attend lectures by preeminent faculty and professionals in fields including geology, planning, biology, law and business. Talks by national and international figures including Nobel laureates, heads of state and captains of industry are also available.

Links with the Philadelphia Professional Community: Students in the MES program can take courses taught by local environmental professionals. These professionals often help students find internships, part-time employment and jobs after graduation.
