Jeremy Quattlebaum

Education:

University of Pennsylvania, Master of Liberal Arts, Cinema Studies, 2014

Jeremy Quattlebaum’s MLA capstone Challenges to Authority: The Use of the Cinematic Family in Spanish Dissident and Subversive Film 1970-2010 was the last piece to the puzzle he chose to put together in his master’s program. Jeremy’s concentration in Foreign Cinema and the Political Narrative involved classes such as Culture and World Politics, Narrative Strategies in Film and Television, Spanish and Latin American Cinema, as well as Media, Culture and Society. These subjects combined sociology, political science, film and media studies in his investigation of the powerful political and social messages delivered in films created in defiance of mainstream authority. His research and writing looked hard at how important the movies we watch are in shaping our thinking about the facts on the ground in the places we live.
