Engineering Geology
Students observe first hand as the Skirkanich building is being constructed on the Penn campus.
Students in this Applied Geosciences concentration focus studies on the Engineering and Mechanical properties and behavior of Earth Materials (soils, water and rocks). Attention is given to special geotechnical issues, such as erosion, slope stability, and selected geological hazards to engineered structures. Graduates with this concentration usually work for Environmental Engineering or Geotechnical consultants, but may choose to perform additional studies and research at the doctoral level.
