FAQ

Who is this program for?
This program is for students who would like to take graduate level courses without working towards a specific graduate degree. Penn's graduate groups, rather than departments, offer a range of study options, and it's important for you to consult closely with the chairperson of the group that holds your interest to discuss what's possible.
How do I get started?

Interested applicants should first go to the following link http://www.sas.upenn.edu/lps/graduate/nontrad/gradgroups to see if a graduate group is available for their area of interest.

Before contacting a graduate group chairperson, you must schedule an interview with a Penn LPS program coordinator to discuss your plans and ambitions and to discover the best combination of undergraduate and graduate courses or get a referral to a specialized program at Penn or elsewhere.

Can these classes be applied toward a graduate degree at Penn?
Permission to enroll in graduate courses does not constitute admission into a graduate program nor are the credits earned necessarily transferable towards a graduate degree.
Can LPS simply enroll me into the graduate class of my choice?
Final authority to determine a student's eligibility for graduate study and/or degree rests with the graduate group, not with the College of Liberal & Professional Studies.
