Professor Donald F. Kettl to Address LPS Graduation in May

Donald F. Kettl, Ph.D., Professor of Political Science at the University of Pennsylvania and Robert A. Fox Professor of Leadership at Penn’s Fels Institute of Government, will address the Class of 2009 of Penn’s College of Liberal and Professional Studies at their graduation ceremony on Sunday, May 17, 2009.

Dr. Kettl focuses on public policy and public administration. He has published a wide range of articles and books, including, most recently, "The Next Government of the United States: Why Our Institutions Fail Us and How to Fix them and System Under Stress: Homeland Security and American Politics."

He won the National Academy of Public Administration’s 2003 Louis Brownlow Book Award for his book American Politics: The Transformation of Governance. He is also a Nonresident Senior Fellow at Washington’s Brookings Institution, Executive Director of the Century Foundation’s Project on Federalism and Homeland Security, and Academic Coordinator of the Government Performance Project, a multi-year effort financed by the Pew Charitable Trust to assess the performance of the American states.

Dr. Kettl earned his B.A. from Yale College, and his M.A. and Ph.D. in political science from Yale University.
