IGSP Admissions and Eligibility

IGSP offers the opportunity to take up to one year of full-time undergraduate level coursework and English language study in Penn’s School of Arts and Sciences.

Students enter IGSP through one of three "Gateway" levels based on needs.  Each Gateway serves as a framework to guide students in navigating through the requirements and options for studies within the IGSP Program.

Based on English proficiency, some students enter directly into University credit bearing courses (Gateway I). Alternatively, some students begin at Penn's English Language Programs (ELP), refining academic and cross-cultural communication skills prior to beginning university credit coursework (Gateways II and III). Some students may enroll in ELP prior to entering for-credit University courses; other students may combine ELP study and University credit coursework in the same term.

Educational Requirements Open to students currently enrolled in undergraduate programs and to individuals who have successfully completed an undergraduate degree.  Students must have the equivalent of a 3.3 grade point average (on a scale of 0.0-4.0) or higher in prior college level work.
