Questions?

What is a non-credit course?

A non-credit course contributes toward personal or occupational development rather than being applicable toward a college degree (no credits are awarded for completion).

Who is eligible to take non-credit courses?

Our non-credit courses are open enrollment. There are no set requirements for prior education or experience and there is no extensive application process.

Will I receive documentation that I participated in a non-credit course?

Yes, we provide an attractive Certificate of Completion in .pdf format that includes the student name, course title, professor, brief course description, and semester of completion.

What are some of the benefits of taking a non-credit course?

Fees for non-credit courses are significantly lower than costs to take credit bearing courses. All assignments are optional and designed to enhance each student’s knowledge and experience.

What kind of experience can I expect in an online non-credit course via the Penn LPS Commons?

Students can watch videos of lectures, read journal articles, complete brief reflection activities, and interact with their classmates in asynchronous discussion forums on the course site. Students are also encouraged to write weekly blog entries, which they can choose to keep private or share with their classmates. Discussion forums and blogs are moderated by a course facilitator that is an expert in the field of Positive Psychology. This course is not live and does not meet at a specific time, so it is very flexible no matter what your schedule or where you are located. Courses do often offer one live event, which is archived and made available for viewing afterwards either for people that could not participate or that attended and wanted to review it again. Students may log in to the course site 24 hours a day and access the videos and other course materials.
