Classical Studies Graduate Programs
Preparing for Classics Graduate Programs
If you’re interested in applying to classics graduate programs, one of the best ways to prepare is by spending a year in the Classical Studies Program offered through the College of Liberal and Professional Studies at Penn.
Requirements of Classics Graduate Programs
As you probably know, classical studies graduate programs generally require a high degree of proficiency in Greek and Latin. For example, in Penn’s Graduate Program in Classical Studies entering students are normally expected to have an undergraduate major in Classics or a related discipline and substantial training in both Greek and Latin. Other classics graduate programs have similar requirements.
The goal of the Post-Bac Classics Program at Penn is to provide the intensive Greek and Latin training that Penn and other prestigious classical studies graduate programs require. Even if you majored in Classics in college, you might find that a year of intensive Greek and Latin studies can greatly improve your chances of acceptance into leading classical studies graduate programs.
Become a Leading Candidate for Classics Graduate Programs
As a student in our Post-Bac Classic Program you will not only study intensive Greek and Latin but also gain invaluable advice and guidance in applying to classical studies graduate schools. In fact, every student in the post-bac program receives both group and individualized advising about career planning and application to classics graduate programs.
The Post-Bac Classics Program has been an unqualified success since its inception. Many of our students go on to classics graduate programs. Recent alumni of the Penn LPS post-bac classics program have enrolled in classical study graduate programs at Berkeley, Brown, Bryn Mawr, Chapel Hill, Columbia, Cornell, Harvard, Michigan, Penn, Princeton, Vanderbilt and Yale.
