Tuition & Fees
The University of Pennsylvania has announced tuition rates for the 2013-2014 academic year. The rates listed below are for LPS courses only and will be effective Fall 2013 through Spring 2014. Summer rates are available HERE.
Students taking courses outside LPS (i.e., in other schools of the University such as the College of Arts and Sciences, SEAS, Wharton, or Nursing) are charged the tuition of that school. Please click here to see tuition for other schools at Penn.
- Tuition is charged per course unit (c.u.) unless otherwise indicated. Three semester hours are equivalent to 1 c.u.
- LPS courses are those listed in the course guide on the LPS website. They end with a section code between "601" and "606" in the Fall and Spring. In Summer, LPS courses end with section codes of “900” to “905.”
- LPS students taking LPS online courses pay LPS tuition. LPS online courses end with a section code of “635” in Fall and Spring, and with a section code of “935” in Summer.
- Auditing: An auditor is any individual officially registering for a course through the College of Liberal & Professional Studies and not receiving a grade or credit. Auditors pay the same tuition and fees as students taking a course for credit.
All tuition and fee charges are subject to the approval of the Trustees of the University of Pennsylvania and may change without notice.
2013-2014 Rates for LPS Undergraduate Courses
General Fee - The general fee constitutes a partial contribution to the support of such essential facilities as a large library system, museums and institutes, and special laboratories. A general fee is charged for each session in which a student enrolls.
Technology Fee - The technology fee covers all the public computing labs, networking access and a host of other computing services and local support. For an overview of Penn's technology services, refer to: www.upenn.edu/computing/penngetsit/index.html.
Clinical Fee - The clinical fee is required for students enrolled in 4 or more c.u.s and allows them unlimited access to the Penn Student Health Service. The fee is charged each semester that a student is enrolled for 4 or more c.u.s. The clnical fee is waived for students enrolled in the Penn Student Health Insurance Plan.
Recreation Fee - Students enrolled in 4 or more c.u.s are automatically members of Pottruck Center, the University fitness center, through a dedicated recreation fee. The basketball and squash courts and pool in Hutchinson Gymnasium are available to those who have a valid PennCard but do not hold a Pottruck membership.
