In order to facilitate and ease your transition into the University of Pennsylvania Pre-Health Program, the following steps must be fulfilled prior to Orientation.

Student Health

Prior to matriculation, all new incoming students must be immunized for certain diseases and submit a personal health history. Please complete the necessary forms at http://www.vpul.upenn.edu/shs.

PennKey

New students are assigned a PennKey setup code after returning the Intent to Enroll form. It will take 5 business days to receive your code after you request it. To activate your PennKey, go to www.upenn.edu/computing/pennkey and follow the instructions. Your PennKey will be active within 24 hours. You must activate your PennKey before you can register for courses.

PennCard (Penn ID)

The PennCard is the official identification card of the University of Pennsylvania; it is the key that can literally open the University’s doors to you. You must show or swipe a PennCard to enter many of Penn’s libraries, and your PennCard may be required to borrow books, use reserve materials, and use the library’s computer labs. The PennCard is provided free of charge to all students enrolled in credit courses (there is a charge for replacing a lost card). After registering for a course, you can obtain a PennCard at 150 Franklin Building, 3451 Walnut Street (tel. 215.417.CARD). E-mail

Penn departments and professors use e-mail to communicate with their students. Once you have registered for a course, you must obtain a Penn e-mail account to take advantage of the class listserves and newsgroups. Pre-Health Listserv

All messages from my office will be sent via the pre-health listserv.  Please subscribe by sending an e-mail message to majordomo@sas.upenn.edu.  In the body of the message type subscribe pre-health-program and hit a hard return after you type program. Type nothing else.
