FAQ

What is the registration process for Fall 2009?

Registration is available Online only. First, consult the course listings on this site for available courses. Once you have selected a course or courses, submit your registration request using the Online Registration Form.

You will be asked to provide a personal email address. Once you are registered for a course, you will be eligible for a free email account with Penn. Further information will be provided once you are registered.

How do I know which courses are available?

The list of courses that are available for Fall 2009 registration is posted here:

What if a course is filled or closed?
As courses fill we will adjust the list of courses so that you will know what courses remain open for Senior Auditors. We do hope that the wide variety of offerings will enable all interested Senior Auditors to find a course that interests them.
Can I register a friend?
Each Senior Auditor must fill out his or her own online registration form. Of course, you may assist your family and friends in doing so.
When I register online am I guaranteed the class I registered for?
Unless we notify you otherwise, the class for which you registered will appear on your bill which means your registration was successful. When we process the registration forms we will email you with a confirmation of the course in which you are enrolled and provide you the room location/date/time etc. In a few instances, if undergraduate demand is greater than anticipated, we will notify you so that you may find an alternative course.
How do I pay?
You will be billed by Student Financial Services shortly after the semester begins. For all billing matters please click here: www.sfs.upenn.edu/billing/index.htm
What if I do not have a computer?
You can access this website from any computer at a public library. Alternatively you can call 215-746-6907 and ask for a form to be mailed to you. Please realize that due to demand, class availability will be limited so please list several alternatives and we will mail your class selection based on availability.
Can I drop or add courses after registration?

Requests for adding or dropping Fall 2009 courses must be made in writing to senioraudit@sas.upenn.edu by the dates below.

Classes start Wednesday September 9; classes end Thursday December 10.
The add/drop deadline is Friday September 25.

You may also drop a course during the late drop period between September 25 and October 16, but you will still be responsible for 50% of the tuition.

How do I find the room location for my class?

Course offerings and locations are listed on the Registrar's webpage http://www.upenn.edu/registrar/s-roster/index.html. Please do not call the LPS office for room location information. We strongly suggest you check this listing before class as rooms may change.

Finding the room for your courses can be a daunting task if you have never been to our campus. On the first day of your class, you will need to verify the course room number by doing the following:
1. Find the room listed on the Course & Room Roster on the Penn Registrar's website. The room is listed in the following highlighted location in a course's listing in the Course & Room Roster:

ANTH-002  INTRO CULTURAL ANTHRO             1 CU
      SOCIETY SECTOR (ALL CLASSES)

910 LEC MW 6-9:10PM MUSE 345       HAMMARBERG M

  MAX: 30

2. Using that room code, go to the Classroom Finder on the Registrar's website.
3. Find the Building name using the building code.
4. On the Classroom Finder, enter the building name. In the example, MUSE is Museum.
5. Enter the room number. In the example, it is 345.
6. Click on start search on the bottom of the form.
7. The system will come up with a list of all rooms that match those criteria (which should be only one).
8. Click on the room number.
9. You will be transferred to a page with information about that room. To view a photo of the building in which the room is housed, click on "Building Details" on the top navigation bar. To view the campus map to locate the building, click on "Campus Map" on the top navigation bar.

REMINDER: You should check the Course & Room Roster on the first day of your class to be sure that your room did not change.

How do I request a faculty permit for a class that is off-limits or previously closed?
We truly discourage this option as we have come to an agreement with the College on how to accommodate Senior Auditors in courses and continue to satisfy the needs of our undergraduates. If you still wish to register for a course that is off-limits or closed to Senior Auditors, the professor who teaches the class must send an email message to senioraudit@sas.upenn.edu with a copy to your email indicating that you have permission to attend. If there is space in the classroom and you are not taking a space already set aside for an undergraduate student, you will be added and notified via email. Please do not call us with these requests as they must be made in writing via email.
