William A. Levi Travel Fellowship

University of Pennsylvania undergraduates who currently receive financial aid are eligible to apply for limited financial support from the William A. Levi Travel Fellowship to participate in a Penn Summer Abroad program. Recipients are selected with consideration to academic standing, financial need, and demonstrated motivation for participating in a study abroad program. Awards typically cover most of the program fee.

Application Deadline: February 19, 2010
This is a final deadline and late applications will not be reviewed. Applicants should apply for the Levi Fellowship even if admission to the program is still pending. However, admission to the program is required before the fellowship awards are announced.

Recipients will be notified by March 15 via e-mail and a letter sent to their current address. Awards are posted as a credit to the recipient’s student account to be applied directly toward the Penn Summer Abroad program fee. Travel Fellowship recipients who withdraw from the program forfeit the award. If the program is cancelled, the student may not apply the award to any other coursework or program.

How to Apply:

A) Complete the online application for the Penn Summer Abroad program of your choice.

B) Write a personal statement responding to the following questions:

1. How you will benefit from participation in the program; how it fits with your overall academic goals.
2. Why, in financial terms, you need the award and how you would finance other costs involved to participate in the program.

C) Complete the following form authorizing the Levi Fellowship Selection Committe to:

• access and review your current academic transcript
• obtain from Student Financial Services your financial aid notice for 2009-2010 that indicates your need for Financial Aid as determined by that office and the nature and quantity of aid you are receiving.
