The University of Pennsylvania (known informally as Penn) welcomes international students. Penn is a wonderful place to experience American culture. Located in one of America’s oldest and largest cities — the home of our country’s birth — Penn is consistently ranked among the best universities in the United States.

Our Academic Summer Sessions provide some of the most comprehensive and academically stimulating credit and non-credit course offerings in the nation. Class sizes are small during the summer months, and most classes are discussion-based. You will have many opportunities to participate in American culture; to study and make friends with academically talented students; and to enjoy the many intellectual, social, and cultural experiences available in Philadelphia.

You can take courses with Penn students, earn college credits that you can transfer to other universities, and receive an official transcript from the University of Pennsylvania. There are many things to do throughout the summer in Philadelphia. There are lectures, movie series, and many concerts and other cultural events on campus.

The Office of Summer Sessions, the English Language Programs, the Office of International Programs, and our international registration centers will assist you with questions regarding the application process, visas, and school transfers.
