Admissions and Eligibility

If you are a graduate of, or a student currently enrolled in the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts (PAFA), you are eligible to apply to Penn’s Bachelor of Fine Arts degree program if you meet all of the following criteria:

• You have completed a minimum of 60 credits in residence at PAFA, with all grades posted to your transcript
• You have already completed—or, supply verification from PAFA that you are scheduled to complete, by the close of PAFA’s spring 2025 semester— 90 credits in residence at PAFA
• You remain in good standing at PAFA with a GPA of at least 3.0 (B)

Although a 3.0 is usually sufficient to warrant serious consideration, it does not guarantee admission. Students with prior coursework in the liberal arts will generally be viewed more favorably. 

Students who have been denied admission to any bachelor’s degree program at the University of Pennsylvania must wait one year before re-applying to the University of Pennsylvania.

The first step toward earning your Bachelor of Fine Arts at Penn is completing the online application. Applications for the Bachelor of Fine Arts program are accepted on a rolling basis. Applicants should submit their application for the semester in which they plan to enroll at Penn and are encouraged to finalize and submit their materials by the priority deadlines when possible.
