Advanced Commercial Chinese I
This course builds on skills developed in CHIN382 (AMES375) but draws extensively on original sources. The topics of the reading range from China's foreign trade strategies after entering the World Trade Organization, the impact of China's economic reform on people and society, to controversial topics such as lay-offs, corruptions, and globalization. Special terminology in international trade, management, finance, and economic laws is thus introduced. Most readings are expository essays written in formal or colloquial Chinese. Active participation is expected in class. Students will be assigned to write journals and responding papers.
