The Modern Middle East Studies (MMES) is an interdisciplinary major and provides an education that can lead to various exciting and prestigious careers. MMES alumni have joined and pioneered the government and private sectors, and they have also excelled in the arts and medicine.
They have placed in government and non-profit positions at the United Nations, the U.S. State Department, the Department of Justice, the National Economic Council, and the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. A noticeable number have also entered the private sector, joining firms such as Google and Accenture as strategists and consultants. MMES alumni have also have become award-wining filmmakers, writers, and musicians who have directed films related to the Middle East and played in the Boston Chamber Orchestra. A significant number of them have obtained law degrees from Yale, Columbia, and Penn and succeeded in both private and public law careers. A considerable number have obtained graduate degrees (both masters and doctorate) in medicine, law, political science, public policy, public health, and business administration.
