The Recorder Ensemble performs Renaissance consort music, frequently collaborating with players of other Renaissance instruments. Some instruments are available for member use. Closely linked to the Baroque Ensemble, and sharing performances and personnel with that group, the Recorder Ensemble’s performances are held in Rose Recital Hall [make this a link to facilities].
Gwyn Roberts earned her A.B. from Bryn Mawr College and a Performer's Certificate at Utrecht Conservatory (Netherlands). She has studied with Marion Verbruggen, Leo Meilink. Her solo engagements include the Concerto Soloists Chamber Orchestra, Philomel Baroque Orchestra, Recitar Cantando (Tokyo), Prague Spring Festival (New York and Prague), Piffaro, Washington Bach Consort, and the Philadelphia Classical Symphony. Roberts is the founding director of Tempesta di Mare. Recordings of her performances have been issued by several record labels, including Deutsche Grammaphon, PGM, Dorian, Sony, Vox, Polygram, Newport, and Radio France. Roberts is the Director of Early Music at the University of Pennsylvania and associate director of the Amherst Early Music Festival.
