About the Penn Symphony Orchestra

The University of Pennsylvania Symphony Orchestra was founded in 1878. The Penn Orchestra is an ensemble made up of musicians from throughout the University community, primarily non-music majors. The ensemble rehearses for four hours each week and performs a diverse array of repertoire drawn from the Classic Period through the Twentieth Century. The Symphony Orchestra rehearses and performs in the historic Irvine Auditorium on the Penn Campus.
