Mark Trodden Named Fay R. and Eugene L. Langberg Professor of Physics
Trodden received his bachelor's degree and a Certificate of Advanced Study in Mathematics from Cambridge University and his doctorate from Brown University. He is an editor of Journal of Cosmology and Astroparticle Physics, Physics Letters B, and New Journal of Physics. Prior to joining Penn, he held the Alumni Professorship of Physics at Syracuse University. He has also held visiting positions at Cornell University, the Kavli Institute for Theoretical Physics and was a Sir Thomas Lyle Fellow at the University of Melbourne. Trodden is currently a Kavli Frontiers Fellow, was a Cottrell Scholar of Research Corporation and has chaired the National Academy of Sciences Kavli Frontiers of Science Symposium.
The Fay R. and Eugene L. Langberg Professorship in Physics was established in 2001 through the bequest of Eugene L. Langberg, CCC'42, G'45. The late Mr. Langberg was an electrical physicist who held positions at the U.S. Naval Research Lab in Washington, D.C. and at the Franklin Institute. He later was elected as a commissioner of Upper Gwynedd Township, Pennsylvania.
