Political Science Major Awarded Pickering Fellowship from US State Department

Political Science major Autumn Patterson has been awarded the Thomas R. Pickering Undergraduate Foreign Affairs Fellowship from the United States Department of State.  This fellowship provides funding to recipients as they are prepared academically and professionally to enter the Foreign Service.  Autumn has served as an intern with the U.S. Department of Education and the World Affairs Council of Philadelphia.  Autumn is working in Azerbaijan and Turkey this summer. In Azerbaijan, she is working with EducationUSA, a network supported by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs at the Department of State.  In Turkey, she is working with the Foreign Agricultural Service at the Embassy of the United States in Ankara, to assist in the promotion of fair economic policy, trade and sustainable agricultural practices.  She possesses proficiency in Spanish, Turkish, and Azerbaijani languages.  Autumn hopes to pursue a graduate degree in international affairs and to enter the Foreign Service as a Public Diplomacy Officer.
