Professor Rogers Smith was voted President-Elect of the American Political Science Association for 2017-2018. This is the start of a three year term on the Executive Committee of the American Political Science Association Council, including this year as President-Elect; 2018-2019 as President; and 2019-2020 as Past President.  Professor Smith is the first member of the Penn Political Science Department to serve as APSA President.    

PhD candidate Gemma Dipoppa's latest article on criminal organizations in Italy entitled "Mafia, Elections and Violence against Politicians," coauthored with Gianmarco Daniele, was published in the Journal of Public Economics.    

For the third year in a row, the Beta Tau Chapter of Pi Sigma Alpha at Penn, under the guidance of Dr. Eileen Doherty-Sil, has received one of the national Best Chapter Awards for 2016-2017 from the American Political Science Association.     

Professor Guy Grossman has joined the editorial board of the Journal of Experimental Political Science (JEPS), a journal of the American Political Science Association (APSA).    

Professor Jeffrey Green has been appointed the director of the newly endowed Andrea Mitchell Center for the Study of Democracy, which will continue the work of the Penn Program on Democracy, Citizenship, and Constitutionalism.
