Claire Ma is a PhD candidate in American Politics and Comparative Politics with research interests in American political economy. Her dissertation examines the development of U.S. regulatory institutions, focusing on changes in the implementation and enforcement of federal information privacy regulations since the 1970s. She is particularly interested in the role of organized business interests in long-term regulatory institutional change. Prior to starting her graduate studies at the University of Pennsylvania, Claire worked as a research assistant at MEF Associates, a social policy evaluation firm in the Washington, DC metro area. She has also worked at the Social Science Research Council in New York City. Claire earned a B.A. in Government from Smith College.
