Gino Pauselli is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Niehaus Center, Princeton University. He received his PhD in Political Science and Master in Statistics at the University of Pennsylvania. His research agenda examines how multiple actors contribute to human rights progress and backlash around the world. His dissertation, "Under Friendly Fire: Foreign Criticism and Human Rights Change" analyzes how criticism from states leads to the expansion and contraction of rights granted to the LGBT community. In other projects, he explores the role of NGOs in the promotion and protection of human rights in the Inter-American human rights system, how rising powers shift states' preferences toward human rights, and how anxieties about territorial sovereignty negatively affect the enjoyment of basic human rights. His work has been published in International Studies Quarterly, PS: Political Science & Politics, Oxford University Press, and Latin American Politics and Society and it has been awarded by the International Studies Association.
