ECONOMICS CONCENTRATION
In addition to the Rigorous Reasoning Requirement and the Common Core, the Economics Concentration requires 5 courses in Economics and 2 each in Philosophy and Political Science Subfields for a total of 9 credits.
Economics Courses: Economics Choice: five more courses in the Economics department, of which Econ 101: Microeconomic Theory (formerly Econ 3) is required for the concentration and Econ 103: Statistics for Economists is recommended. At least one of the five courses must be taken at the 200 level.
Philosophy Subfield: 2 courses at the 200 level or above.
Political Science Subfield: 2 courses at the 200 level or above.
Up to 3 substitutions are permitted from outside the PPE subjects (Philosophy,Politics and Economics). The substitutions should be consistent with the students primary training in Economics within the PPE major. Of course, the student could choose to substitute less. An example of such a course of study (where the substitutions are used) is provided below.
