The PPE Major
The PPE major is one of the largest and fastest growing majors within the College of Arts and Sciences. It offers a cross-disciplinary, foundational platform in three subjects, and then allows the student to choose between two different types of concentrations. The Traditional Concentration lets the student choose one subject (Phil or PSCI or ECON) and take two more courses each in the other two areas. The Thematic Concentration allows the student to choose an interdisciplinary theme of study that is not limited to the traditional PPE disciplines.
For example, a student who meets certain academic standards may choose to specialize in "Choice and Behavior" and devise a theme in coordination with the Associate Director, choosing from courses in Philosophy, Political Science, Economics, Law, Psychology, Computer Science, Cognitive Neuroscience etc. Students who prefer a more structured environment may continue to specialize in the traditional concentrations.
Students wishing to pursue a major in PPE are advised to carefully read this website, and then fill out and bring this form in person to the Associate Director's office (please check here for office hours). Making an appointment prevents any possible wait time and is very strongly encouraged. Students who wish to obtain a peer perspective may contact the student board members.
