Patricia Burns
Executive Director of Organizational Strategy, Patricia Burns – Pat’s role is to ensure that the department provides conscientious and quality service to faculty and staff; and to continually strengthen the human resources process. Pat is involved in all aspects of the Human Resources function in the School.
Pat Burns is the Executive Director Organizational Strategy for the School of Arts and Sciences at the University of Pennsylvania. Pat has overall responsibility for managing the human resource needs of the SAS staff. This includes staff relations, compensation, benefits administration and staff recruitment. She is also responsible for developing programs that promote staff development, assessing training and development needs and designing and coordinating training development programs. She assists the SAS faculty as it relates to their management of staff and assists all SAS managers and staff in interpretation of HR policy. She supervises a staff of three.
Pat began her Penn career in 2003 bringing with her many years of HR experience that she gained while working in the for-profit sector. Pat has a degree in Sociology from Villanova University, an MSOD and graduate certificate in Organizational Consulting and Executive Coaching from Penn, and is SPHR certified.
