School of Arts and Sciences: Staff Recruitment and Hiring Process

When recruiting a new staff member, hiring managers are given the opportunity to bring in the best possible fit for their open position, to add fresh talent and valuable skill sets to their department, and to look beyond what the staff member may bring to the immediate needs of their area to the long term potential and value they can add to the School as a whole.

The recruitment and hiring process includes providing the right information to the candidates in the interviewing process. It involves asking the candidate targeted questions to help make the best possible assessment of their potential fit within the School, both for the position for which they interview, as well as others which may develop in the future based on their interests and skills and the needs within the School. It also involves maintaining continued contact and establishing a professional relationship with candidates from the date of application throughout the interviewing process.

This document will provide the hiring manager with the tools, appropriate guidelines and best practices needed to accomplish bringing in qualified new staff members to SAS in a proactive way.
