Course Description: 

This course explores the rise of political Islam in the modern Middle East. It covers groups such as the Muslim Brotherhood, Al-Qaida, ISIS, and Hezbollah as well as significant events such as the Islamic Revolution in Iran. The course will discuss the manner in which these groups/events have shaped regional politics as well as the relationship between the Middle East and the West.
